What do you eat to settle yr stomach?

I threw up last night and feel a bit dicey today although keeping food and water down so far. I was hungry this morning so toasted a slice of low-carb bread I found in the freezer but that was the last one. Normally I eat eggs but couldn’t face them. In the past, I’d have toast or rice cakes...

    First hba1c test

Mine was 81 on diagnosis, so close to yours! My last HbA1C was 37 and I’ve come off medication, all thanks to low carb. I consider weight loss a less important metric because controlling blood sugar is the key to managing diabetes, but it definitely won’t hurt.

    Metaformin...eek!

For what it’s worth, I can’t exercise and am ‘obese’ but my blood sugar is in non-diabetic range with no meds thanks to low carb eating (and this forum), so while Metformin may help you, you can also make dietary changes that will really set you in good stead.

    Medication queries

FWIW, I didn’t lose much weight on the standard “eat all the cheese and cream you want” low carb diet but have now really reduced cheese and cream and mayo and cut out nuts (I fill up more on meat, eggs and fish) and it seems to be shifting. It’s more important to me though that my BG reading...

    Well aren't I an idiot!

I couldn’t cope with the side effects of Metformin, even a low dose of the slow release. I took Linagliptin for a while but am now diet controlled (Metformin’s great if it works for you but there are other options). Are you taking your BG 2 hours after eating? Is there room to cut more carbs...

Worried about gastric side effects of Metformin

The GP might want you on medication but it’s up to you (and there are other options). Mine prescribed Metformin but even the slow release made me horribly ill so I stopped it and was changed to Linagliptin, am now diet controlled. Could you have another HbA1C in early July and see if the low...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Have been the same for a month now, lots to lose but apparently my body’s in no hurry — it’s taken me a year to shift a stone. Just did the Diet Doctor 2 week kick start, to no avail. Today am starting to reduce a medication that might be causing me to cling onto weight so fingers crossed.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.2, but had less cheese earlier last night. Hoping it comes down on its own over the next few months.

    Frozen Shoulder

I’m so sorry, both my parents have had this and were in agony but both are now completely better, it just took time and physio (my mum had to try a couple to find a good one and unfortunately went private in the end). I also used to go to a Iyengar yoga class where a couple of people had...
