Started Metformin a couple of weeks ago

Motezumas 100% with chocolate niblets. Absolute favourite of mine. A couple of bits a day after lunch. Big treat as it’s expensive.

    Hospital/Gp

They can indeed see them. Had a receptionist tell me yes she could see them, but no she couldn’t tell me. Rang the hospital. They could see them but also wouldn’t tell me as they had been sent for the Gp to tell me. Nearly a year later I still don’t know what the outcome to some very expensive...

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

@Ladynijo I would cover if swimming a lot. I put one on at the start of a sensor and leave In place. Have been doing so for about 6 years.

    Smell

    Love the smell.

    Newbie seeking help?

Try using thighs and buttocks too. You shouldn’t just be injecting into one area.

What Hba1c level do you aim for?

@Old’un I’m pleased to say I have a consultant who is much more interested in TIR than HbA1c

Libre 2 - failure at first hurdle?

Yet I’ve been using about 6 years changing every 2 weeks and in all that time I’ve only had 1 non starter and 2 failures.

Type 1 Disposal of Free style libre 2 sensors and applicator

Because it is the rule where I live. Decided on by our ccg. Thought it was barmy, but it has to be so.

    Prescription hold ups

I have to say my Gp and my hospital team are second to none. 2 weeks ago I had an emergency with my father and had to travel over without enough needles on a Sunday. Monday I rang my surgery and explained my problem. That evening I received a lovely text from a GP to say a prescription had been...

    Food relationship

No you should not stop enjoying food in solidarity. And if your husband is no longer enjoying food then he is obviously having some issues. Yes it is frustrating not being able to be spontaneous with food and having to plan count and inject. However it shouldn’t stop him enjoying food...

What do you reccomend in the summer

Always have and always will just sip water. But not too cold. It’s carb and calorie free and good for you. A win win!

    Newly Diagnosed

I already wear glasses too, but couldn’t see a thing out of them. Got a cheap pair from boots just so that I could read. But was 2 months before I could resume driving.

    Newly Diagnosed

Good advice. I did just this. The inability to see was driving me bonkers. Got me over the hump and allowed me to function.

    New and confused

@sazmo as others have said, the fact that you progressed from pre to full blown type 2 is not your fault. If health advice from your GP had been forthcoming and fit for purpose last year you would not be in this position. Last week my father was in hospital. Although he himself is not diabetic...

    Going high with exercise

@ANTJE I do my hard swim sessions early morning when I get up. No breakfast therefore no bolus. Like yourself I found a sudden steep rise, which consequently messed up the rest of the morning. Depending on my level when I wake I now take a half unit or a full unit of basal before I swim. I tend...

    Type 1 Libre 3

I trialled last year via the hospital. And loved it. Had no trouble with alerts or sounds. Personally I think the alerts should be up front and loud. Have my 2 set like that now. It’s a medical device alerting you to a medical issue. I want it to wake me immediately. And I am sorry but I don’t...

    Libre 2 reader

Just to say @MommaE I was very resistant to using the phone with my Libre 2 and stuck with the reader for about a year. Then I got a new phone and decided to go for it. Best thing I did. Inputting the information is easier. It allows you to amend later, and just being able to use Libre Link and...

    Basal Insulin

No definitely not. I find that drop is often what was on the needle after doing an air shot.

    Bleeding after injecting insulin

Not alarming, perfectly normal, happens to me regularly. Sometimes followed by bruising. A small capillary has been hit.

    Easter

Interesting! You are obviously lucky. Have tried 3 Lidls where I live, 2 in Grimsby and 1 in Heacham Norfolk. No luck so far.
