    New Metre

I’m a type 1 and wouldn’t touch a banana with a barge pole these days. Far too much insulin required. Not worth the effect they have.

Insulin seems to not be doing anything

@Quinapril is there any reason why you are not wearing a CGM all the time. This would alert you to lows in the night, so taking that concern away.

Type 1 CGM which is best

I did a L3 trial and loved it. M8 d you I don’t have issues with my 2. Loved not having to scan. It was very accurate for me.

    low carb/keto and insulin ratio

    Good article.

    low carb/keto and insulin ratio

Your last point @Jon Mors would point to a clue for me-her tummy pain started once she was diagnosed with type 1- I would be questioning how your daughter feels about this whammy of a diagnosis and new way of life at the age of 10. It is just the age (I worked with 10 year olds for years) when...

    New Member

Welcome @Matt2023 have just commented on your Lantus thread. Keep the questions coming there are always plenty of people with answers/suggestions. If you don’t want to say exactly where you are that’s fine. But it does sound tantalisingly interesting.

Splitting Lantus - is this not supposed to be done anymore??

@Matt2023 absolutely fine and very common. When I was on Lantus it was recommended by my consultant. It definitely doesn’t last which is why many people are moved to Toujeo or Tresiba.

    Freestyle Libre 2 Problems

Yet I have had relatively few problems over the years and found Abbott customer care to be very good. In fact haven’t had one malfunction needing removal since this time last year. Sometimes it scans but doesn’t show a reading. But the next scan is fine. Certainly taking less than a couple of...

Dexcom One - What's it like in use?

@bearMedicine 3.5 units is obviously quite a bit out, 1 unit either way is very good and many blood glucose monitors can have this differential. 2 units is an accepted difference by Abbott. I find it is pretty bang on most of the time. But if rising or falling quickly, tends to struggle with...

G.P refusing to give me my insulin

Surely they cannot mean you cannot have any more insulin. Is it more that instead of a set amount you order it as and when you need it. I often only order once every 3 months. We all have different usage needs. There has been some miscommunication here I feel and I would get myself into the GPS...

Low Carb - cure or mere avoidance?

@andyR57 the numbers you quote for your family meal are fairly similar to the previous ones. As a type 1 that sort of difference I wouldn’t bat an eyelid at. As others have said for @ type 2 it is about that differential rise from before to after eating. You say it was a family meal. That could...

    Humiliation at Manchester airport

I’ve also never had issues with my spare going through the X ray, works just fine.

How you know your diabetes has progressed ?

@Omar51 it doesn’t have to be a progressive disease these days if we work hard at food choices and looking after ourselves. Many people live long lives with few complications. In fact as a late diagnosed Type 1 (53) I think I am a lot healthier than I would have been without it. What makes you...

    Help with insulin please

I use the app as I prefer it and have missed lots of notifications in the past. Though if I had started or commented on a post would search that post out. Then 2 weeks ago I randomly started getting emails, helpful but strange considering I’ve being posting years.

    Driving License Renewal

Less than 2 weeks from filling in on line to it dropping through the door. Looks like they have their delay problems sorted.

    A Jolly Good day-so far!

High intensity swimming. 70 lengths in about 40 mins. Some lengths timed. I swim 6.45am. I usually inject a unit and have a spoon of yoghurt before going as the actual swim can raise levels by 3-4 mmol. The following morning I am nice and low and level. On days not preceded by a swim I wake...

    Food shortages in the UK

Ditto! Shelf groaning with peppers and cucumbers. Stopped doing my main shopping at the big supermarkets a long time ago. Pop in periodically for items I cannot get at Aldi or Lidl. Plus I know I am not going to be long at the checkout with their super processing.

    snacks

I used to have snacks pre Libre. Then I saw their effect. I agree with @RobertJ everything rises levels. I stopped snacking unless I have a downward trend I don’t want. Or I enjoy a decent snack and inject for it.

    A Jolly Good day-so far!

No I haven’t. My early morning issues which come and go, are more to do with my activity levels the day before. High activity lower DP inactivity higher DP.
