Was your addiction bread as well wasn't it?

Cannot seem to give up eating bread. I easily gave up candies, chocolate, sugar, and just sweets in general. It was a bit harder to stop eating honey as hot tea with honey was my favorite but I've managed. But bread.. makes my mouth water when I only think about it :-)

Thank you for your input. Does that mean that any healthy diets do not include any oatmeal and bread at all? I have always thought that oatmeal was healthy enough.. have I been wrong for years? We're all work in progress and things are relative, let's say compared to those who do not have...

Burgen sounds German :-) Well, 13g of carbs per slice is pretty much any (not low carb) bread. I ditched everything "sugar", but I cannot seem to give up eating bread.. love it..

Doesn't LIDL sell these rolls any more does it? I've never had to worry about it so I've never paid attention. By the way LIDL is a German supermarket chain.

Well, the easiest and the nearest for me would be to walk 0.7 miles (15 minute walk) to Atherton Leisure Center, then take a bus number 425 and after 19 stops I would reach the Ginger Pig Butchers in Victoria Park, it's right near the bus stop. But I'd rather walk to the Stratford Center stop...

Right, but that's not really local. I mean to say around my whereabouts. I can of course take a 20 minutes walk to my nearest tube station, then 20 minutes tube ride, then another 30 minutes walk or 10 minutes on a bus just one way to reach a butcher, but... that wouldn't make it local :-)

Hmm.. Don't remember seeing any local butchers in London after 10 years of living there. My favorites have always been Morrisons and Tesco. But then gain I didn't care much about sugars at that time and ate pretty much everything I liked.

I would also say that tastes differ and the beauty lies in the eye of the beholder... For example I like Japanese cuisine but I do not come from Japan. Tastes are normally not dependent on the country but.. one may have to change it because of your BG levels / health conditions. I used to have...

I am currently in Germany. Not sure if they have any bacon around here without any sugars at all. Perhaps I haven't searched good enough yet.

All the bacon sold here is just drowned in sugar. I guess the only thing I can do is to soak all these sugars out of it by simply putting the bacon into water for days. Luckily, sugar is water soluble and hopefully it will still be possible to eat it afterwards.

Yes. First I'll have to buy a small piglet. Then feed it. Then wait for it to grow up. Then... I'll never be able to kill it in order to have my own bacon...
