    Novo Nordisk Pens

I have the same problem since I use NovoRapid, Levemir and Regular. I took the silver cap off an old NovoPen 4 and put it on one of my blue Echos so it's half silver now!

'untethered' Regimen - Has Anyone Tried?

You can still adjust basal using this method. You simply take a much lower dose of Levemir/Lantus or whatever than you would need without the pump.

    Needle Tip Sizes

Try the BD needles, I find they insert smoother than the Novofine needles for some reason. I use 8mm needles and I'm pretty lean. I like that I can pinch up and sort of inject on an angle to make sure the insulin gets in. I found the 4mm needles caused a lot of leakage and actually hurt more in...

'untethered' Regimen - Has Anyone Tried?

Yes, it makes the most sense to me of all the treatment options available. I think the key to good control is breaking whatever guidelines the NHS or the medical community comes up with. I use Actrapid in combination with NovoRapid when I'm on MDI for example (for delayed spikes caused by...

Type 1 Exercise type 1 using Omnipod.

This isn't safer for most type 1s, it will just lead to extreme highs.

    Levimer Pen Failure

Switch to the re-usable NovoPen Echo and use penfill cartridges. Much better quality, can dose in half units and has a dosing memory.

Accu-check Says Hi- Should I Be Worried?

Pizza has A LOT of carbs, so even if you're low you still have to dose at the time you eat or soon after. It also has a lot of fat and protein requiring additional injections or Actrapid insulin to deal with delayed carb digestion it will cause. HI means you are 30 or higher. You will need a lot...

    Fiasp - Chest Infection/chesty Cough

Who knows, I really think there is something not right about Fiasp. Ive tried it several times and always end up back on NovoRapid. I noticed that when I was using it last time on MDI I had yellowish-tinted skin near my injection areas. Strangely these were even where I only inject Levemir...

Help Urgent! Lada Just Taken 26 Units Of Bolus Instead Of Basal

Eat lots of peanut butter, ice cream, cookies, cake, anything like that if you have it.

Help Urgent! Lada Just Taken 26 Units Of Bolus Instead Of Basal

I think you need to eat food that is very high in protein and fat so that it will keep digesting for hours. Juice, glucose tablets and bread won't cut it, way too quick acting and you'll be low again fast. Order a pizza!

    Used Accu-Chek Combo Pump

I'm all for people having pumps who want them, but I don't think it will solve your issue. I actually find insulin works slower when I am pumping, meaning pre-bolusing is even more important than with injecting. What insulin are you using? Are you sure your basal is the right dosage? What are...

Lol is the word c**p seriously a bad word in need of censoring? Edit by Mod: it would appear so ;)

    Hyper

I feel like **** if my blood sugar is rising fast or if I am above 9 usually. Some people feel nothing until they are much higher, some have symptoms at lower levels. A lot depends on what your blood sugars have been running at generally. If you've been running high for a while you could get...

New Infusion Site - Retest Basal?

Perfect. Ive never felt a need to do true "basal testing" with a CGM. I just make adjustments based on the CGM data, which I think is more valuable anyway.

    Bolusing On A Low <3.5

You have to know your body. If I was eating something like a Subway sub, that will hit me really fast so I might bolus a few minutes before even if my BG was in the 3s. I know I will be okay from experience though, and have never required assistance from anyone no matter how low I go. If this...

    Bolusing On A Low <3.5

It's trial and error and depends on what you are eating and your body, like everything else with this disease. If I was eating something slow-digesting I would probably wait 10-15 min to bolus, otherwise I would bolus right when eating. I usually subtract half a unit to a unit, I find if I rely...

New Infusion Site - Retest Basal?

It can definitely affect your basal rates, but I would just wait it out and see if you're running higher first. Do you have a CGM or Libre? Those devices make it way easier to determine what your basal needs are without going through any testing procedures.

    Basal Testing Toujeo

You are probably experiencing dawn/"feet on the floor" phenomenon. Many of us require much more insulin in the morning. I take 1 unit of NovoRapid the second I get out of bed, whether or not I eat, or I will skyrocket within an hour. Even if Toujeo works exactly as you expect it to, a 24-hour...

Basal Requirements Have Shot Up In The Last 2 Weeks And I Don't Know Why

That makes sense, but because Humulin I is a suspension, many people have problems with it working consistently from day to day. Have you tried Levemir? It also lasts about 12 hours on smaller doses, and you can take more at night and less during the day by taking it every 12 hours. It has a...

Basal Requirements Have Shot Up In The Last 2 Weeks And I Don't Know Why

Why Humulin? Why not switch to a modern basal like Levemir, Lantus or Tresiba? Humulin is not really a basal insulin at all, it's an intermediate-acting insulin that was part of the standard treatment until basal analogues came along. If it works for you, great, but I would consider switching to...
