Well I went out last night with my friend. It was quite busy, with lots of stag and hen dos about, but as the evening wore on, I almost felt normal - no stress or anxiety. But today I felt quite anxious and went out by myself, and later met some acquaintances, which helped. And I got a bit...

I had a chat with an old friend and told him what's going on. It helped a bit, but not hugely. And we're going out for a few drinks tomorrow night (probably beers!). I also "read" an audiobook on anxiety from the NHS. Plus I went to the local library, and they have an "ageing well" drop-in...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

I've lost 0.6 lbs this week, which surprising considering I've had more ready meals and alcohol lately. Strange.

Thanks for the links and info you have posted; I'll take a look. I have some chicken in the freezer so may make up a curry later. I know what you are saying, @JoKalsbeek, and I will try talking to a friend. I did sleep a bit longer this morning so am feeling a bit brighter today.

This isn't really shifting. I had a call with the GP today, and he gave me a couple of links, and signed me off for a week. I know what I need to do, but can't sort of summon the courage to do it. It seems like there are so many barriers. The one big thing for me is the waking up early...

Thanks @Grant_Vicat. I'm not sure what set it off, but it's been brewing for a while. I'm determined to beat it though.

I'm feeling a bit better, thanks, after doing some breathing exercises and setting aside some worry time.

Thanks. I've been looking at various resources and exercises on the NHS web site, and will try some of those this week. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the replies and tips. I'm feeling a bit better today, but last week was awful. And happy birthday @Rachox.

Thank you, @lovinglife. Whether it's watching too much (of the awful) news, or approaching sixty, or other life pressures, I hope that normal service will be resumed (fairly) shortly.

I'm sorry I haven't interacted much lately but I've not been (and am not) in a great place. Anxiety had ramped up and I'm not quite sure why. I've taken steps to address it, but they haven't really worked. This isn't just a temporary bout of anxiety, but something which affects me every day, and...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today's lunch was a lamb shank in mint gravy with a sautéed potato, mushrooms, carrots and (slightly old) green beans.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Down 0.7 lbs this week. Quite surprised, but I'll take it.

Up again. This week +0.8 lbs. Less activity this week, plus more wine and beer. Must do better.

Best wishes for a good recovery. :)

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

For lunch today I had couple of wholemeal rolls with red salmon. I know, but my blood sugar only went up to 6.8 two hours later. For dinner I had a chunky cod fillet (which was very nice) with mushy peas and mushrooms. I wasn't all that hungry but I enjoyed it.

    Diabetes Type 2 - Positives

Thanks Peter. I think my next test will be a bit higher as I'm eating a few more carbs. I too was given metformin at the start, but only took them for a few weeks as I didn't like the side-effects. I stopped all sugar, bread, potatoes, pasta and rice at first, which was great for weight loss...

    Diabetes Type 2 - Positives

Like you I was nearly 20 stone and am now 13 stone. I still need to lose another stone, but am not too far away. The main positive I got was joining this forum and getting informed, honest and supportive advice from the members here.
