What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Yes, pretty much. As you say, eating separate meals would be a nightmare. I don't think a well balanced low carb diet will do me any harm, in fact quite the reverse.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Lunch: Mrs M and myself had roast veg, (onion, courgette, mushroom, broccoli, tomato, aubergine, bell pepper, garlic and a small sweet potato which I ate most of) with a white fish fillet each on top. Mrs M doesn't like aubergine but there was no complaints and she said she would have it all...

    Trying to help my wife

In a word, No! Mrs M just doesn't do technology. She only got a mobile phone because of my health issues, it's only turned on if we are separated. She doesn't even operate the tv box I got so she doesn't miss her soaps!

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Mrs M reluctantly allowed me to start her on a low carb diet instead "healthy diet" her doctor suggested. For dinner we had a two egg omelette with mushroom, tomato and spinach, topped with brie and finished off under the grill. Followed by Greek yoghurt and berries. She complained that this...

I'm guessing these can be reused then? Do you need to wipe/sterilize the needle between uses?

    Trying to help my wife

I'm overwhelmed by the support I've received on this forum, truly and honestly! A big thank you to everyone who has posted on this thread and encouraged myself and my wife. I read Ian Foster's post to her (4 posts or so above this one) when she came back from her walk. She went quiet for a while...

    Trying to help my wife

Here is another reason I'm struggling to change Mr Ms diet; She has just bought a diabetic cook book which is endorsed by a major UK diabetes charity. Chapter 1 lays out eating guidelines for people with diabetes, "Eat regularly throughout the day and base your meals on starchy carbohydrate...

Oats and yoghurt reminds very much of the overnight oats I used to take to work with me before I retired, I used to enjoy that!:) When you say cereal without a brand name, do you mean the stuff you can get from Aldi, or from health food shops?

    Trying to help my wife

Where to start? Yes, fibre is an issue for her. She believes that health professionals know best, so for example the keto porridge recipe, chia and sesame seeds are fine, but more than two eggs a week is not healthy. Heavy whipping cream and butter, that's a big no no on health grounds, and she...

    Trying to help my wife

Thank you, that would be a great help! As someone above has said, by changing her cereal breakfast for a low carb alternative could be enough to turn around this situation. But her breakfast is the one thing she is most reluctant to change.

First of all I want to say thank you all for the welcome and taking the time to give informative and helpful replies to my first post on this forum. I’ve been lurking here for a few days before signing up and have read many posts on diet and healthy eating for diabetics. I have come to a couple...

Todays food was breakfast cereal. Lunch, salad bowl from local vegan cafe. Teatime, low fat cheese on a few crackers followed by Greek yogurt and fruit.

Following the advice of the dietician on the "Preventing Diabetes" course she went to: Breakfast is usually cereal with skimmed milk. Lunch could be half a grilled chicken breast or white fish with steamed veg, brown rice, couscous or lentils. Teatime it could be two slices of wholemeal toast...

    Trying to help my wife

Hello all, thanks for accepting me onto this forum as a non-diabetic seeking to help my wife. We are in our early sixties, she is slim (under weight), very active, healthy eating, never touched alcohol or tobacco. She discovered three years ago that she was pre-diabetic after a blood test for an...
