    No obvious pattern.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Looks like I'm getting somewhere. I'm now down to 15.5 stone for the first time in 10 years (I'm 6 foot 4). My GP is talking about taking me off sitaglyptin soon. The current theory being investigated is that I may have IBS with Type 2 which might go some way to...

Low sugar and strange noises ?

My tinnitus gets really loud when my BG drops low too and arrives with the thudding heartbeat, hot flush and vague nausea. Pulsatile throbbing in my left ear and hissing in my right. Had it since early childhood. When I was a kid I used to lie in bed listening to it which is why I don't think it...

    The Bolt Diet

After years of trying to find out what's best for my BGs, it would appear that chicken nuggets and low fat colslaw are a total winner for me. Who knew.

Thanks Jung. That looks pretty similar to my experience. I've cut most of them out already and (combined with the Sitaglyptin) the weight is falling off me rapidly. Unfortunately that triggered a gallstone a couple of days, which always happens when I lose weight. Anyway, it's mostly looking...

    No obvious pattern.

Hi guys. Thanks for the welcome and the kind advice. I've actually been a forum member for a couple of years now but it's always nice to say hi twice Daisy. I'm not sure I am any the wiser from these comments. What I need to understand is why I am not following any sort of identifiable pattern...

    No obvious pattern.

Type 2 (variant unknown) + 2000mg Metformin and Sitaglyptin. I don't understand my fastings at all. Brown basmati rice = 10.6 fasting Or Cadbury's Mini Rolls and Haribo Star Mix binge = 7.2 fasting and no night sweat. Confused.

    Sitagliptin

Hi. I think he's waiting to see how I respond to the new medication. My last HBa1C was in the 50s (can't remember what that was in the other metric 4-7 but I have been as low as 3.1 and as high as 32.2). I've always had stomach problems so, rather oddly, I am able to tolerate the full 2000mg per...

    Sitagliptin

Wow, you're definitely all over things. I have a great BG meter that I imported from Germany because the software links with my Samsung Health App and all I have to do is touch the devices together (NFC enabled). I will definitely check every 15 mins next time I'm on it. Funnily enough, a couple...

    Sitagliptin

Makes total sense. Everyone tells me to eat oats because they are slow release but that doesn't stop me from sky rocketing so I don't go anywhere near them. I also try to avoid potatoes, rice, pasta and bread although rice is my weak spot - I love it but accept that even brown rice isn't helping...

    Sitagliptin

That's good to hear. I thought I was just weak. I used to sneak to the kitchen cupboard when I was little and dig a table spoon into the golden syrup. That's how long this has been going on for. I've managed to get on top of everything a few times but my muscles weren't recovering from my...

    Sitagliptin

I think that the UK feels behind the USA when it comes to knowledge of diabetes at the GP level. I'm sure you are right about the requirement for further testing but the reality is the NHS won't even fund testing strips for Type 2s. In terms of current BGs, I have had a bad summer. One morning I...

    Sitagliptin

Wow that's great, thank you. I suspect they will put on combined following this initial trial of Januvia. It's weird but I feel different already. I didn't have that crushing wave of dark fatigue around 4pm today. I have also hardly hiccupped today and the nausea is almost none existent along...

    Sitagliptin

Hi there. I was diagnosed Type 2 about 5 years ago but that was by a nurse and I have finally had a meeting with a consultant yesterday. I was not convinced by my type 2 diagnosis because I have had a range of issues since I was about 5 years old. The consultant agreed that I have had a glucose...

    foot cramp

Hi Dave. I take the standard daily high strength tablets that you can pick up in any UK supermarket on the vitamin supplements isle. Good luck with it.

I used to get it all the time until I started taking Magnesium every day. Hope that is useful for you.

Type 2 Metformin when you have a tummy bug

Not eating today. Got a poorly tum. I am on 3 x 500mg Metformin. Should I still take them today? I definitely will not be eating.

    Thanks Nosher. Will do.

    Type 2 METFORMIN

Hi. I have fatty liver but my GP said that's not a factor. What my GP did say was that it was a good idea to sip at Lucizade during the crashes over my bedding in period. He said this should all calm down in a week or too. I was concerned about Lucozade too which is why I have had about 4 sips...

    Type 2 METFORMIN

Hi Jenny. I'm new on Metformin. This is my third week and I have gone up to three 500mgs per day. I got a jippy tum on the second dose and a read that eating half your meal, taking your pill and then taking the other half really helps. It did. Apart from the nausea the moment I get hungry the...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was told by one GP that Type 2's who don't test do better than those who do. But when my latest GP put me on Metformin he said I have to test. I asked him for a prescription and he said I don't get one. So, I told him I won't test.
