How Long After Diagnosis Did You Go Back To Work?

Mine was luckily during a half term holiday whilst at college so I spent the week in hospital, they could have kept me in the ward but it was like a prison so I wanted to get out early so I could resume my studies.

At what sugar level would you fall into a coma?

lowest was 0.9 and I felt the same as being drunk, but with extra shakiness and sweat, i think 0.5 and below you will start to lose consciousness, your brain does need energy to survive, but it can use other forms that are present in your body like glucose left behind from a high blood glucose...

What the hell is going on?

maybe your ratio of carb to insulin needs changing, at the moment it looks like 10(carbs):1(unit), you could try 15:1 and work your way up

Eating disorders and type 1 diabetes

I was only counting the carbs, when you think about it, its all carbs apart from the turkey/chicken/ham, i don't eat meat that much so sometimes I skip the meat and go for the vegetarian option. Excluding the veg like leeks, peas etc.

    Headaches with type 1

Whenever I get a headache it is a really painful one and I sort of lose my mind because my brain can't cope, most are just tension headaches or migraines put on from watching TV or looking at the computer screen for extensive periods of time (although I use computer most of the time, I should be...

    What breakfast cereal spikes sugars

If you look on the box of these cereals, assuming GI relates to whether it has more or the same sugars as carbs, the ones with evidently no sugar sprinkled on them already suggests they only hold the hidden starch sugar with only a small amount of the fast acting sugar. For example Rice Krispies...

Eating disorders and type 1 diabetes

Just think of carbohydrates as poison in large amounts in a short time, but in small amounts good for you. Which is why the FDA have put a limit or cap on the nutritional information for an average healthy person which would be 2000kcal,250g(90g) carbs(sugars), 90g protein etc, for an...

    What breakfast cereal spikes sugars

Whenever I have cereal, I have coco pops, frosties or weeto's. But cereal like these have added sugar which would spike sugar levels, as opposed to corn flakes, rice krispies or cheerios which have a more starchy carbohydrate that absorbs slower, personally it makes no difference for me. The...

    Localised Scleroderma?

I'm experiencing what looks like scleroderma which is a condition that affects the skin in the way that it makes it hard, rough textured, discoloured and makes it seem like it's dead. I haven't had a diagnosis of it yet, but it's mostly affected my extremities such as knee, toes and chest and up...

Type one is EASY!! for me.

I concur that it will be easy for me once I get a job, but at the moment it is not, because I sort of need a job to build my motivation in general to do things instead of just putting things off like injecting insulin, binge eating, and hoping to win money by gambling with my benefits. Without a...

    Stupid McDonalds

i'm not picky about what I get from fast food restaurants, I did once get a large pepsi (not diet) from KFC when asked for a pepsi max, though I think they were just being trained to use the tills for the first time as someone else was sort of helping them, as many can mistake pepsi as the same...

    Insulin pump eligibility tool?!

This is just to tease people into thinking they can get a pump more easily that the NICE guidelines have changed but they haven't. I cross referenced my answers from the tool with the NICE guidelines and the tool is pretty much a fake, not sure who made it but they must be desperate for people...

    Fastclix drums availability

If they're not on the list usually it means that particular surgery or your area isnt in the list of nhs funded prescriptions/equipment. Doctor said when I asked for the exact same thing 'if its not on the list, we can't prescribe them to you' but I got them from the hospital in the same borough...

    Blood pressure 136/80

hypertension is nothing new to me, i am exposed to second-smoke every day and as I have read multiple stories about it being just as bad as smoking, I wouldn't be surprised that my blood pressure is above what it should be on a daily basis, but that one occurence where it was high was just due...
