Dexcom CGM not lasting as long

I’ve not noticed any decrease in accuracy, just time they are working – It’s probably not significant, but I think it started with the first batch I purchased direct from Dexcom after Advanced Therapeutics stopped selling them. My consultant has applied for funding, so hopefully it won’t matter...

Dexcom CGM not lasting as long

G4, but they both use the same sensor.

Dexcom CGM not lasting as long

My Dexcom G4 CGM sensors used to last three to four weeks. The last four I have used have struggled to last two weeks. Has anyone else noticed this? Why might it be happening?

    Accuchek Insight

The previous Accu-chek pump, the Combo, is still available. I have one and it is very good. I would not go near an Insight!

    Pancreas transplant or DiaPort???

I now have a DiaPort and it has changed my life – My glycaemic control is massively better now. Towards the end, I was getting through around 6000 calories a week eating between meals to stop hypos – I once had a hypo that persisted for nearly eight hours over night and needed 360g CHO to keep...

    Accuchek Spirit Combo and Diasend

My SmartPix reader arrived today and now I can upload my pump insulin data. The only problem I had was the uploader display - It says 'Scanning for device' when it is actually connected and obtaining the data. You can tell when data is being transferred as the turning semicircle moves very...

    Accuchek Spirit Combo and Diasend

Diasend got back to me and said; Thank you for contacting diasend® Support. If you want to download data from a Accu Chek Combo pump you do need a device called SmartPix (reader). The AccuChek realtime cable does work fine for the Accu Chek combo handset but will not work with the pump...

    Accuchek Spirit Combo and Diasend

Nope. Absolutely nothing in the insulin section. I have emailed Diasend & asked them for advice.

    Accuchek Spirit Combo and Diasend

I know it does not help, but I just tried and my Dexcom G4 works, as does my Combo handset, but no joy with the pump either.

    Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

When you put it like that, I can see how MDI can sometimes be better; but my memories of MDI are still raw and pumping is still the way for me.

    Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

Quite a lot of pumpers say that they enjoy the freedom from the pump. I am the opposite, I would never go back to MDI – My control is far better & I feel better using the pump. When I was on MDI I was giving six to eight jabs a day and my BM was swinging around from hypos to the low 30’s...

    Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

A DiaPort would solve the problem.

    Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

Just being inquisitive here, but why can’t you use them anymore?

    Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

Hi Saikoudaze. I think the Insight is a step backward from the Combo because; My Combo and remote both last at least six weeks until a battery change. The Insight remote battery life is about three days (Or only 8% that of the Combo). The Insight pump battery life is far shorter as well (Why...

    Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

I have just looked at the Accu-Chek website & there is some info on the Combo but it is not that obvious.. I clicked on Insulin Pumps - The Insight is listed but not the Combo. The only way I saw the combo was in the comparison section. Anyway, I am really pleased the Combo is available...

    Accu-Chek Combo is still available!

I currently use an Accu-Chek Combo and was worried that when I had to change they would make me take the Insight (I think the Insight is a huge step backwards from the Combo). I mentioned this to the person at Roche that took my repeat order for cannulas etc. and they said that the Combo will...

    basal on holidays

It is not a good idea to stop the basal insulin as there is a chance blood will end up in the transfer set and cause an occlusion. I never reduce my basal below 10% in order to keep a positive pressure in the transfer set.

    basal on holidays

My BM regularly spikes after a meal. A super bolus helps. This is where you take, say, 90% of the following two hours basal insulin & add it to the bolus. You then set a TBR of 10% for two hours. The net result is the same quantity of insulin, but adding the basal to the bolus reduces the...

    How to stop spikes

Have you considered a super-bolus? This is where you add some of your basal insulin to the meal bolus. Assume your basal rate is 1u/hour and you need to bolus say, 5u for the food. You take 90% of the next two hours basal insulin (1.8u) and add this to your 5u bolus making a total bolus of...

    Bl**dy hospitals

I had three GA’s last year as some extensive zapping of my eyes was needed due to retinopathy. I stayed on my pump during all three – The person that makes the ‘pump staying on’ decision is the anethiatist. Your BM during the op is their responsibility. Once I explained that my pump would just...
