    2 months diagnosed - complications

Btw unless I was at or below 4 I would not eat glucose tabs or chocolate bars. I would make sure I ate a slow release carb to give sustainability. All glucose sweets will do is give you a spike. If you are below 4 then a couple of glucose tabs AND something starchy are needed. So I would...

    2 months diagnosed - complications

I would imagine that you are now taking too much medication for your carb intake. If you dramatically cut carbs but not meds, it is easy to drop low quickly. Liaise with your GP about how to match meds to your new diet. For instance you might not need the glic any more. Ali

    What to do?

Mileana you really need to get to see a Doc. I see you aren't in England but whatever you need to do to get emergency treatment, do it. So if you turn up at A and E poorly, are you saying they send you away? Hope you get sorted. Ali

Newbie in need of help :(.

Hi there, looks as though carbs are your downfall then. Try swapping your breakfast to bacon, egg, mushrooms or 2 slices of burgen soya and linseed toast with a scrape of reduced sugar jam. Notice the OR, not both! Lunch - a single slice of wholemeal seeded bread with a large salad and...

GP's to have to treat foreign/illegal immigrants

If that is the case it sucks for sure. Meantime, whilst we seem to be unable to get our Politicians to understand that UK taxpayers really should take priority, take a look at the SD Codefree meter on the net that has considerably cheaper strips I believe. Luckily for me I don't struggle to...

Sore vagina -like dermatitis? - Anonymous Question

It could be thrush (or candida as it is also known) but if they swab you and it isn't it could be other skin complaints. This week I have been diagnosed with genital lichen planus. I have oral lichen planus but you can get it in all sorts of places particularly where mucus membranes live. I...

    Lichen planus anybody?

I believe if it is amalgam related it should go once the fillings have been replaced. However, other versions can come and go to varying degrees often for years at a time. Yes I have it on the side of my tongue too, citrus foods, spicy foods etc are not a good idea on a regular basis! Ali

are type II's who need insulin like type I??

Yep the situation sucks doesn't it, it shouldn't have to be like that. Whilst I am currently a carer also on a limited income and not paying NI because I am exempt, I have paid a ton of tax and NI in the last 25 years. As I said, I am very lucky to have Benenden membership at £1.50 a week. It...

Type 2 not wholly related to lifestyle?

Bigbenn you are out on a limb then because most health professionals are now realising there is a whole lot more to type 2 diabetes including genetics. I have fought my weight all my life despite playing copious amounts of sport even after leaving school, badminton and tennis clubs, most of my...

are type II's who need insulin like type I??

For those of you who have GPs that refuse to give you the CPep and GAD tests to establish type 1 from 2, you can ask for a private referral to an endo at any time and pay for those tests. You would be looking at around £500 - £600 in total for a couple of consultations either side of the blood...

    Lichen planus anybody?

Hi, I have had lichen planus in my mouth for a few years now and it has decided to manifest itself in "other places", oh joy. I also have one nail affected by it. It is thought to be auto immune but not much is known about it. Anybody else suffer with this? Ali

Suitable pub non-alcoholic drink for a pint glass?

How very odd. I rarely drink diet sodas and pre D rarely drank any fizzy drinks so no personal experience of it. Ali

Suitable pub non-alcoholic drink for a pint glass?

The article mainly focusses on the craving for sweet things causing the weight gain, not the diet coke itself? So long as you don't stuff donuts I can't see how calorie free and sugar free diet coke can affect weight? Ali

    Discrimination?

That is dire, and from your "inclusion" officer too! I would definitely take issue with this and go through the proper channels to ensure you are never on the receiving end of such ridiculous, stereo typical comments again. How dare she!! You have got to wonder what on earth she is saying to...
