    Porridge on lchf diet?

I missed warm cereal type breakfast in winter. My solution was to defrost and warm blueberries in the microwave, then sprinkle on LSA, full fat Greek yogurt, coconut cream, or cream, add toppings like cinnamon, toasted nuts & seeds, chia seeds or coconut chips. I also found that a 1/2 large or...

Not a problem. This is where a meter comes in handy. You can use it to see what foods make your. Bg levels go up and what you can tolerate. When I was first diagnosed and everyone thought it was T2 I managed to lower my Hb1Ac went from 84 at diagnosis to 56 six weeks later. At 3 months it was...

    Newbie From NZ

Another NZer here with recently diagnosed T1 (but currently on a honeymoon period). Welcome! With regards to exercise you would be surprised at the effect even a 10 minute walk post meal has on bg levels (at least for me).

Trying low carb but losing too much weight

What if I am losing weight, but without high bg readings? I have changed my diet, so that I can control my levels, plus my thyroid function is improving.

    Hi from NZ

My daughter is 5 now, sorry if that was confusing. I have Type 1. Currently on a honeymoon, I can control things through diet and I take metformin. I'm from Wellington. You?

    Hi from NZ

Hi, @nessa1970 ! Thinking back, I have had a lack of energy for quite a while. But I have also just been with depression, which I have probably been struggling with for a while, and my marriage broke up 12 months ago. I had GD during late pregnancy, but this resolved itself very quickly. No...

    Hi from NZ

Hi, I've joined here, because I can't find any NZ forums offering similar support. I've been reading this site since I was diagnosed in mid-June, with a Hb1Ac of 84mmol. My GP referred me to a endocrinologist, questioning whether it was Type 1, and her suspicion was proved right through...

Trying low carb but losing too much weight

Thanks for the advice. I will see if I can follow up with my Doctor. Haven't had anything over 9. I do test 4 times a day, and the endocrinologist I saw initially said to ring if I got a reading of 15.

Trying low carb but losing too much weight

Post meals I go no higher than 8, and mostly it is 6 or 7. I don't get strips funded as not on insulin, so as a single Mum can't afford to test before and after every meal. But, I will ask.

Trying low carb but losing too much weight

Thanks. I will ask. I have raised weight loss with my GP and at the diabetes clinic at the hospital and it didn't ring any bells. I expect a higher Hb1Ac, but I still think depending on my readings it will be considered good (just not as low as before). I will see if I can find a way to test...

Trying low carb but losing too much weight

I've been diagnosed as T1 (assuming LADA, but my doctors have never used that terminology) based off of my GAD test - that was in mid-June. My initial Hb1Ac was 84mmol. In late September it was 31mmol. I was 72kg when diagnosed, am now 58kg. Weight loss has been steady all the way through, and...
