Best HbA1c in my whole T1 life (23 years!) - thank you!

Well done to you, and those who helped you.

    Update on my current situation

I sympathize that you have been left in the lurch, it must feel horrid and isolating. As has been said above, commenting from a non-medical perspective I must admit, I would have thought further blood tests may have been in order to try and help you. Perhaps see if you can find an other GP?

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

Which is why I have used the word 'may' when referring to whether Ancel Keys has been unfairly judged. She too of course has books to promote. I'm not judging her right or wrong either, just trying to let others make their own minds up. It's perfectly obvious which direction I'm going but what I...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

I'm learning as I go along and am still refining my web site, but I read these two quotes by @DavidGrahamJones and they piqued my interest: "I'm not going to mention Ancel Keys, mainly because of the the slightly inaccurate conspiracy surrounding his 6, 7, 22 country study. I haven't quite got...

    Update on my current situation

We can't diagnose anything here obviously, but in your situation I'd be inclined to at least have another word with them and try and ask for some sort of explanation. Did they not have any theories about why you are feeling the way you do?

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

You're quite right - I'm an idiot. I had an Ultrasound (gel) and Angiogram (dye)! It's one of the typos I've corrected. I misread the letter (which I've subsequently lost) which I believe stated that the location for the Angiogram was in the X-ray / CT department (I think). Thanks for putting...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

I won't. What I am trying to do is make them consider the potential consequences of not looking after themselves. I just want to encourage people to think. By jotting down my own story, without directly telling anybody to do this or don't do that, I thought this may be the way to go. Out of a...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

Sure. I'm just amending it a bit - with help from sages on here. Might be a bit better in a few days. I was going to wait till after Christmas dinner!

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

I take your point. Basically because much of the food they cook and post about is carb-laden - lovely but not the healthiest. Of course I'd like to persuade them to look after themselves a bit better, but one of them in particular may find it a good challenge to dish up good food that is also...

Good to hear about your brother for sure. I suspect you're right too, some may lap it up while others are hostile. Most though, I fear, will basically ignore it. Some folk on here may find it vaguely interesting because they can identify with it - and improve on it. Of course we know the ins and...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

We're all linked by variations of a common condition. I don't even know most of your names, not that it matters, but what is important is that what we cumulatively know may help others. As I've said to MBaker I will assimilate your responses and include them in the text, while trying not to...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

Thank you for the detailed (and informative) response. I watched the 2 episodes. A healthy diet was key to it, not surprisingly, but it showed that very fit younger people can be storing up trouble without a change, and outward appearance is not necessarily the ultimate marker to good health...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

Being relative new science explains why I'm behind (having just about got the hang of a potato peeler). There are only a handful of people who know who my DN is. If she ever gets to read my tale she'll know exactly who I am - I'll probably be stabbed. Even though no name or location is mentioned...

    A relatively ‘normal’ day!

Great stuff Sawds (apart from feeling awful). Human again. (There's nothing unusual about feeling dodgy after a few beers and a kebab) My wife goes out to regular get-togethers. She says to me, well go out for a beer or two and have a kebab for tea. Which I used to do. Naughty but nice. I still...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

Nice thought. I went as far as trying to set up a blog linked to my own website. Then made a complete rickets of it and it cost me £40 (which I did get back). Then I thought that a direct approach from me, at this point at least, might be better. A blog linked to Diabetes UK (or within it) might...

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

Share away by all means. As I've said it's not for profit and the wider the word spreads the better. One person helped anywhere is what we're all about I think.

Pass it on by all means. I was going to wait till after Christmas dinner! Plus, a generous forum member is currently doing an edit having found more typos than I care to admit to!

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

In a word, no I haven't considered or researched this theory. My DN told me that my beta cells were probably producing insufficient to cope. I believed that, and have never considered any other explanation. One of the few things I remember from a scrappy consultation. Thanks.

I'd like to spread the word a bit, can anyone help?

I have written 'my story so far'. I've written it on my own web site as that was the best way for me to get it down and spread the word. It's going to be sent to my friends, family and other people on my database. It's NOT a money-making thing. I just want to inform people about (primarily) T2...

    Need some advice

I think this is really a question for your medical team Sarah. I don't know the answer, but if I had an idea it could be dangerous for me (or others) to give you that sort of advice. Not trying to be callous, just sensible. Good luck
