    Is this normal with pump?

Hi everyone, I'm struggling a bit at the moment with low BG's especially at the weekends when I am buzzing around. I appreciate we are all different but hoping some of you lovely pump users can guide me. I had 4 glasses of white wine last night & had a quiet morning, drove to b n q (in and out...

    Worrying about lows

Hi, I suffered terrible lows in the first trimester with both my pregnancies, I was told that the lows are caused by the placenta forming. After first trimester a constant steady increase but just had to keep increasing insulin needs. Just speak to your diabetic/midwifery team and I'm sure...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

I'm having a bit of a difficult time at the moment keeping within range. My libre 2 is predicting 6.4, 46 mmol but it's not keeping nice & steady. I've been using the pump & libre for a year now but my needs are drastically different between weekdays & weekends. Drastically reduce my needs at...

    Diabetic Psychologist reviews

Thank you. I was just curious as I've heard others on the Forum mentioning such a service but I have never heard of anything similar in my own health board, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Type 1 Can Hb1Ac Results be Incorrect?

Hi, I am just quoting from my own experience. If non fasting and levels were borderline it could be a confusing result.

Type 1 Can Hb1Ac Results be Incorrect?

A fasting BG test should have been the correct test. You would have been asked to fast from at least 6pm the evening before the test.

Retinopathy suddenly worsened, dont know why?

Hi Matt I am similar to yourself, type 1 for 31 years now with pretty tight control. Consultants are always pleased with my hba1c results. Got my first retinopathy monitoring result about 4 years ago & when discussing with my Consultant he told me that unfortunately it can be a bit of a lottery...

    Carb counting

Hi Penny I would recommend carbs & cals app. It is a wee bit expensive £35.99 annual payment but I think it is worth it. You can buy the same in book form but it is bulky to carry when out.

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Oh gosh Claire, that is low. My last hba1c was 41 in new money & 6.0 in old money. This was due to changing to a pump & becoming temporarily obsessed about keeping within my too tight targets. I've relaxed a bit now & libre2 showing estimated hba1c of 6.3. Could you try & reduce your insulin...

    Lyumjev

Sorry I have never heard of this type of insulin. I use novorapid and find it can be too quick at times, especially prebolusing.

My local Asda store only recently started selling them, last batch I bought a few weeks back were priced at 45p per tube. A wee bargain!

    Dawn phenomenon

Hiya, I am quite lucky and don't experience Dawn phenomenon but 8.2 is an OK level. The only thing I could suggest would be to consider moving to a pump. On the pump you could alter your insulin needs throughout the day & night.

    T1D and high anti-thyroglubulin antibodies

Hi, I was diagnosed with type1 when I was 21, now 52. About 4 years ago tests showed my thyroid was overactive, horrible symptoms of anxiety, hyperactive, couldn't sleep, loss of weight, etc. Tables turned and I am no underactive but medication helps. One autoimmune disease can lead to others...

    STV News Article - omnipod

Hiya, with the omnipod pump I was told when changing it to fill with 200 units regardless of the daily needs but yep needs changing every 3 days. More than likely lots of excess insulin was in the pod. Tragic!

    Basal testing

I am quoting what I was informed of from specialist diabetic nurse in March 22. Worked for me but not all hats fits all.

    Basal testing

Hi, you wouldn't need to fast you would just need to eat extremely low carb or no carb throughout the day. With a bit of planning of what to eat it can be done. Best of luck

    Anyone choose mdi over pump?

I was offered a pump a good few years ago but like you didn't like the idea of tubing. I did start the omnipod dash in March (non tubed) As really wanted to get back to the gym. I found the first good few months hard going & like you considered going back to the pens. The pump hasn't cured highs...

Going out with friends - do I take a couple of units when home after a beer or two?

Hi, you shouldn't take any insulin for alcohol, my specialist diabetic nurse reiterated this during some training in the last couple of months. Enjoy your evening
