That sounds lovely. Glad you enjoyed it!

    Hello!

Hi Nigel, Welcome to the forum. I'm relatively new around here too having been diagnosed nearly two weeks ago. The meter is vital - the longer you spend in these forums, the more you will see the mantra "eat to your meter". It works! That way you find out what will make your blood sugar spike...

LCHF - 11 weeks completed on my new way of life!

PoppyPetal, you are an inspiration. Your diet sounds very much like mine these days. I'm only into my second week but I'm already seeing and feeling changes for the better and I have so much energy.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

6.1 this morning! This is the lowest fasting reading I've had since I started testing. Delighted! My readings are getting lower generally. Walking everywhere I can and yesterday I cut the hedge and started using my TRX thingy for upper body exercise. I have a lot more energy. I'm enjoying my...

    Newly Diagnosed

Hi Lynn, Welcome! The shock and feelings of doom will pass and everyone is very supportive here. Get a meter and testing strips as soon as you can. Are you on diet and exercise only, or have you been prescribed Metformin? I have an SD Codefree - it's vital!

Newly diagnosed and freaking out :(

@melliemars This is the time in our lives where we need to tell others to butt out - in the nicest possible way - so that we can look after ourselves. That includes control-freak reception staff at the doctor's surgery, rude and dictatorial nurses, the vegan "friend" who tells you that their...

Diagnosed Type 2 - Tablets And Overwhelmed

@Quirkybee, I know we joined the forums around the same time and I was diagnosed T2 a week ago today, but I probably have an unfair advantage from watching my husband (T2 for 16 years) experiment with the food combinations until he came up with something that made a difference to his readings...

Ordered My First Sd Codefree Kit :)

My inaugural fasting reading this morning was 9.1, which alarmed me a little and I wondered whether this was just me or the dawn phenomenon. I guess I'll find out after a few more fasting readings. However, two hours after my breakfast of scrambled eggs it was down to 6.6, then up to 7.0 just...

Ordered My First Sd Codefree Kit :)

Thanks, Quirkybee. Funnily enough, I'm starving too and have a bit of a headache. I'm debating whether to eat something before I go to bed. I guess we have to keep on experimenting till we get it right.

Ordered My First Sd Codefree Kit :)

Keep going and take time to find what's right for you, and your meter will help you do this. I really don't understand why they don't recommend getting a meter at the outset for T2 as how can you improve your lot if you don't have an idea of the numbers? Mine arrived today too and I took...

    Sassin' Frassin' Doctors!

Got off on a bad footing with my GP surgery on the day of my diagnosis last week. I'd booked a doctor's appointment to discuss blood test results at their behest (didn't know it was diabetes they wanted to discuss - wished I'd asked about the results first). When I got to the surgery I...

    Left to it

I've just ordered a Codefree and extra strips. In a bizarre sort of way I'm looking forward to it arriving because it means I can now start to control my diabetes properly. I'm not on medication yet - trying exercise and diet alone until my next appointment with the doc in nine days - and I had...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

The doctor joked that I may not fancy the Newcastle Diet and directed me to the Diabetes UK website. The nurse told me a load of rubbish about not eating egg yolks or chicken! I've found far more useful ideas on this site and I'm now eating a low-carb diet. OK so far...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was diagnosed with Type 2 last Friday - nothing at all was said about self-testing, just "come back in two weeks and see how you're doing on diet and exercise alone".
