    colonoscopy

It does seem to vary depending on the area. My hospital letter says 5 days so i've been very obedient. I don't want to have to do it again because they can't get results. Looking forward to Tuesday's breakfast though!!

    colonoscopy

Just a bit of a moan. I usually eat a medium to low carb diet which works well for me. I am having a colonoscopy next Monday and finding the low residue diet difficult as I'm hungry. I don't want to add in white bread, rice and pasta even for that short time as having weaned myself right off...

    Annual review

Hope you don't mind but I need to rant a bit. At yesterday's annual review with a diabetic nurse I came out really irritated and angry. She refused to accept that a lichen sclerosis flare-up was not caused by dapagliflozin so wants me to stop it. My HbA1c is 50 but she says that anything under...

    Trying to help my wife

Hello Martin.. You're going to be a great help to your wife as eating the low carb way has to be a way of life rather than a diet. I have Type 2 and although can't manage to get into remission I cut my HbA1c from 62 to 47 in 6 months by cutting carbs. I like my fruit too much to go really low...

    Cramp in my calf's

Hello. I'm with you on the twitching. My doctor says it's 'restless legs' and it is linked both to diabetes and low iron. It's like there are little animals moving around under my skin and I'm aware of it whenever I'm sitting still. It's also often present with cramp too so we're ticking all...

    Cramp in my calf's

I can really sympathise. I get cramp very regularly during the night; it can be in my calves, in my upper legs between thigh and groin, in my ankles(that's a fairly new one) so a real problem. The doctor prescribed quinine but doesn't like me taking it all the time but I can get away with a...

recycling of medications boxes tablets metal foil

You beat me to it Grant. We keep all our blister packs until we have a big bag as neither of our local Superdrugs have pharmacies. Then on a trip to Cambridge we get rid of them. Works really well.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Happy New year everyone. 6.1 this morning which I'm really happy with. Lovely lunch out yesterday and a walk to catch the last days of the Christmas lights in Mousehole so only small pear yesterday evening. Eating main meal at lunchtime is great for me.

A few asking for low carb food lists....

Hello. I found the carbs and cal book brilliant too. My doctor recommended it and it helped me stay on track. I lost over two stone and have kept it off for five years now so a very good investment.

Eating out at cafe/coffee shop/garden centres

I really sympathise. Since cutting carbs, I always carry dark chocolate. I'm lucky to have a Hotel Chocolate factory shop near me so keep a constant supply of 70% cocoa solids and above at home. I buy a variety and always make sure I have some. I really enjoy it so not really any hardship...

Anyone fed up of every ailment being put down to being Diabetic?

Hi Jennifer. I've got the same problem with one of my big toes and my podiatrist said that it was likely to be a trapped nerve whilst the Diabetic nurse immediately said it was diabetic neuropathy. The podiatrist said no as it was only one toe and if neuropathy it would be likely to be be both...

    Trulicity pre-filled pen medication

Hi Jazz. I was on it for a while a year ago. At first I was quite queasy but that did die down and it did bring my sugar level down. Injecting was much easier than I anticipated ; I was quite worried beforehand. Unfortunately, I had to come off it after 3 months as I developed an allergic...

    Metformin and Vitamin B12

Hello. I have been on Metformin now for about 23 years with changes in dose at various times. I had a problem with B12 three or four years ago. Long term Metformin use can affect your body's ability to absorb B12 so it makes getting it from your diet more difficult. I wasn't as low as you but...

New here - banana question etc.

Hello all. On the subject of berries for breakfast fuelling my lowish carb lifestyle (I lost 2 and a half stone and dropped HbA1c from 69 to 47) I am lucky enough to live near a fruit farm which freezes their leftover berries. I can buy a kilo of raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and 750...

    Victoza side effects?

Hello again. I put myself on a medium to low carb diet four and a half years ago and lost just over 14 kilos which I'd mostly kept up. It was a chance conversation with a consultant epidemiologist where I mentioned that in spite of maintaining the carb regime I'd put on a couple of kilos and...
