    Craving chocolate

85% cocoa and above, nibble a small piece, make it last, enjoy every morsel - then try and suppress the feelings of guilt you will no doubt find creeping in the corner of your mind. It won't matter a jot if you keep it to that once every few days or so. If you really want to test the...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Omelette for breakfast, a few crackers and some cheese for lunch (and a sneaky bag of crisps), a mug of tea, two mugs of coffee in between. Meds - 500mg Metformin, 80mg Gliclazide and 25mg Alogliptin for breakfast. 500mg Metformin for lunch and my BG is.............11.9 - OK, I've not done much...

Can I take an extra metformin

With those figures I wouldn't worry anyway! Just keep on the low carb diet. If it makes you feel any better, I often hit the teens first thing in the morning (hence the cheerful avatar).

    Diabetes is not a Disease

    Point taken.

    Diabetes is not a Disease

Well, to be honest I really don't care whether it's a disease or a condition. I've got it and I don't like it. I do my best to manage it - LCHF, a fair amount of exercise, prescribed medication and so on.....and I still don't like it.

    Diabetes is not a Disease

I'm sure it's not a disease, it can't be caught or transmitted from person to person. It's a condition that can be managed, to some extent, by diet, exercise and medication. This is what I've been led to believe and, until I'm given substantive evidence to the contrary, it's what I'll continue...

Sexual Problems with type 2 diabetes

I have Cialis on prescription, and was told I could have it because my type 2 is a 'blood related problem'. I rarely use it, because it's not me that's lost libido! (sigh)

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

12st 4lbs (172lbs (UK), 78Kg approx) - as usual. This gives me a BMI of pretty well where it should be (22.6) and it rarely changes. Annoyingly, the BMI calculator I used tells me I'm the correct weight for my age and height, reducing my chances of developing type 2 diabetes! Perhaps I...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

There are, I'll admit, some real positives to the LCHF diet - other than the diabetes control thingy - I love black pudding! Therefore; Breakfast - black pudding and Camembert omelette, cup of tea (black, unsweetened) Mid morning - mug of coffee with cream Lunch - green salad (lots of leafy...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

12.9 this morning and, thankfully, I've run out of testing strips - so now I can't frighten myself quite so frequently - until, that is, next Thursday, when my prescription gets attended to.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

11.1 - Is there anyone else who wakes up with readings like this?

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

10.8 this morning, and I continue to get these far too high readings. That is except for last Thursday afternoon when I felt decidedly queezy for no apparent reason. This didn't improve, so I reached for my BG meter to find a reading of 3.8 and dropping (another 2 points over half an hour...

    Type 2 Life

I confess I do find all these figures confusing. Probably because I'm too lazy to find out about them all. However, my 10 point-something reading first thing this morning has, after a half hour fast cycle on my trainer, dropped to 7.6! I've still to eat breakfast (10.45am - yes, I am that...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

With my new medication, I find my average BG during the day has come down, but I still get readings of 10+ first thing in the morning. Depressing.

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

09.15 and nothing yet - I'm fed up with omelettes, but there's little alternative from what I see in my 'fridge today, however, I do spy one small rasher of bacon! I will try and resist the few remaining slices of rye bread. Lunch will almost certainly be, as it was yesterday, a salad with some...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

10.3 and now, in addition to the Metformin and Gliclazide, I've been prescribed Alogliptin. This has made a difference to my readings during the day, but what are all those of you with readings below 7 worried about!?

    Your carb nemesis?

I don't know which is worst - I don't touch bread, rice, potatoes, pasta and a whole host of other root vegetables and other carby type things and still I get BG readings in the teens. I eat a few crackers when I consume cheese, other than that I really try to keep carb intake to a minimum...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Be honest with yourself! Find out what LCHF means and eat within the limits. Don't believe those that tell you shutting one eye when you eat a slice of bread or a nibble of chocolate means it's OK - I tell myself that all the time and I'm lying! It won't be easy, but it is easy to live in...

VERY SLEEPY AFTER ANY TYPES OF FOOD

Always tired, always got a headache, often feel dizzy. I do try and do some exercise but, since Christmas, have failed miserably. I'd like to blame the metformin and gliclazide, but I doubt very much if I could con anyone they're to blame, besides, no one can con themselves, can they?
