    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

12st 5lbs - as always, within a pound or two of my usual weight. BMI of 22.8, where I'd like it to be. Tomorrow it'll be a couple of points lower, as I expect to lose a pound or two by then. Should I change my avatar?.......nah, it general sums up the way I feel about being diabetic.

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

I didn't test this morning and I had my six monthly bloods and urine tests (I will know if my LCHF diet has continued to have a positive effect in a week - if it hasn't I'm going to commiserate with a beer). Today I started with a couple of left over sausages and a little black pudding. Lunch...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

I suppose it's laziness, but I don't go looking at all the info on packaged foods. If I'm hungry, I eat, but I don't eat any of the recognised HC foods or sugary foods/drinks - NO bread, chips (UK - fries US), rice, root veg, beer, white wine, etc., etc. and I don't eat huge portions, either...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

So do you weigh each component and constituent of each meal? In one of your last posts you stated that you eat whole wheat buns, oats, potatoes and corn chips. If I ate ANY amount of those my BG figures would rocket!

    Beer instead of fizzy drinks?

Beer and lager I can understand being full of carbs, but what about spirits, especially my tipple of whisky, and their effect on BG?

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Breakfast: 3 rashers rindless bacon, 1 fried egg, 3 mushrooms, 3 (small) slices of black pudding Lunch: Chicken stir fry, with mixed vegetables and egg noodles Afternoon snack; 3 tiny slices rye bread with Marmite (yum) and a little cheese I tested my BG about 2 hours later and they'd shot up...

    best bread for a Type2.

Then cut it horizontally, as thick as you like, and stuff it with as much bacon (and an egg, sausage too) as you feel you can eat. (Actually, I'd put a slice or two of black pudding in as well).

    Should I take statins

I was taking statins but, after talking things over with my doctor, came off them. My cholesterol is fine but the side-effects of the statins were too difficult to live with under the circumstances. My joints ached constantly to the extent that it limited my exercising and caused some distress.

    Cannot go on.

If you can't call 116123, try emailing [email protected] or look at www.samaritans.org for more options and help. It may just make the difference.

Don't want to give up my toast for breakfast, but...

I was once proud to say that I ate toast every day of my life - let's face it, it was promoted as a really healthy thing to do, so long as you ate moderate amounts of wholemeal, granary, multi-grain, et al. Stopping has been more difficult than I can say! I know it's only bread, not like...

    Low Carb and Exercise!

    I can't abide celery! Besides, I didn't have any.

    Can anyone tell me ...

Metformin SR turned my guts to liquid within an hour or so of taking them. I was almost totally incapacitated by the stuff and needed to be within a minute's run of a toilet at any time of day or night. I had no idea what effect it had on my BG as I was less concerned over testing than the...

    Low Carb and Exercise!

12st 5lbs this morning (78kg?) I cycle when I can or ride a turbo trainer two/three times a week for about half an hour. This doesn't sound much, I know, but the regime I've set myself means I can barely stand at the end of it. Ten minutes later I feel great! LCHF as closely as I can (a few...

    Can anyone tell me ...

With those figures I'd be delighted! Wait until your spikes hit the high teens, like mine occasionally do, then worry! I'm currently 7.2 and utterly delighted with that. A very low carb, high fat diet all day long is the only way I can keep anywhere near that figure.

Reversing T2 With Diet - Who Has Done It And Who Wants To Give It A Go?

I have to admit that I haven't the foggiest idea what those words mean. I'll have to do some research.

What do you miss most from being diabetic

Strewth! And all I meant was a slice or two of wholemeal or multigrain!

Reversing T2 With Diet - Who Has Done It And Who Wants To Give It A Go?

I'm beginning to wonder if controlling blood sugars IS achievable. I can't say I've reversed my T2 with diet but I have been trying to maintain the HFLC approach since it was pushed at us so long ago. I do have the occasional small lapses (which I immediately regret) but I'm still utterly...

    Toast, for breakfast. (sigh)

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

Much, if not most, of the 'Out' campaign was to do with personal agendas. Boris has now bottled it, having realised what becoming Tory leader would have meant for him and to have fallen into the trap laid by David Cameron. It shows the measure of the man that he has kept very quiet since the...
