    Backsliding!

This is what I found with my self. I only comment as I've also fell off the wagon a few times. I googled symptoms of diabetes and recognized that I've experienced a few of them. Not severe but then my sugars where not really high yet. This just reminds me that I don't want to feel like that...

    Snacking

I was also in this conundrum when I was browsing down the snack isle and getting frustrated with everything. I did find two items. The first was pork rinds. The ones I found where zero carbs. Now they are not exactly low fat but just a few really help the grumbles. The second was Siljans...

    Is this too high?

I also struggle with morning numbers but as i continue with my lchf diet they are coming down. Now I'm in the 6's fasting and in the 7's before breakfat usually. I found that if I cheat, like having bread or other bread items, during the week those numbers go up a couple of notches. Its all...

    Testing at 1 hour

So it would seem I can recover (somewhat) at 2 hours. Now I just need to get the starting level below 6 and watch the carbs to keep it a little more steady. We'll see what it does tomorrow with less bread.

    Testing at 1 hour

I read a couple of threads that we should test before, then 1 hour and at 2 hours after a meal. I was told by my dietician to test at the 2 hour mark. Doing this my numbers were okay. Not always spectacular and a few times high. Yesterday I decided to check at the 1 hour mark and it was at a...

    Granola/Nut bars

Hello everyone. I found some some protein bars but they still have almost 20g of carbs most of them sugar. I was thinking of making something my self that might be a bit lower. I've got a mix of nuts and seeds which are quite low in carbs. I need something to bind them together. I was...

    Info on sugar spikes

Hello everyone. I've been struggling lately. Last Sunday I caved in and had 6 mini donuts at the fair. You know those little deep fried pieces of batter with cinnamon and sugar. Well that did me in that day for sure. Went from a nice 5.4 to an 11 after. Ever since I've been struggling with...

    DO OTHER UNDERSTAND YOU?

I couple of people at work are the same way. They dont see the damage it can cause so they just think I'm faking it. I try not to make a big deal of it but they over heard me talking with my boss and where whispering about it the lunch room. This week there was a birthday and at every birthday...

    What am I doing?

Welcome to the forums. There is a ton of information here and always some one that can answer questions so don't be afraid to ask. Since no one has done it yet I'll tag @daisy1. She has a good intro to help get you started. Did you get a meter from your GP? If not you might want to consider...

    Breakfast

Two eggs, two bacon strips and a piece of 12 grain toast. Keeps my sugars low and my belly full. Sometimes i skip the toast and do a fruit smoothie with 70g of strawberries and 70 raspberries, 13g flax seed and 80g banana, 250ml of water.

    JuicePlus

I lasy my wife works with gave me drink mix. She said it didn't have any sugar. And it would help regulate blood sugar and boost metabolism. Sure enough the package says zero carbs. I tried it and it was the most vile stuff ever. Told the lady that and she says "Yeah I know. The box they came...

    Shakiness? T2D and Metaformin

I had the same issue when I started on Metformin and a low carb (not high fat) diet. There where a few days where I couldn't even hold a pen I was shaking so badly. Horrible fog and couldn't think and a nervous energy that made it difficult to sit at my desk and work. I'd check my sugars and...

    Finally accepting my diagnosis

+1 to @kokhongw on the wait to exercise. It took me a month and a half after being diagnosed and starting a low carb diet that I finally felt like getting out and walking. It take a body time to adjust to the food changes so just give it a bit of time.

    Butter or margarine ?

What about non-hydrogenated margarine? I was also told by my dietician to avoid the hard margarine that you use for baking and to use butter instead. But she did say I should use the non-hydrogenated margarine. But with that said I use butter instead. Just tastes that much better.

Those look very good. Thanks for the suggestion. Might have to give their pizza and burger buns a try also.

Whats the best meal you can eat?

Curious about what you mean by "doesn't effect your readings." Do you mean that it either stays the same or lower 2 hours after or only a moderate rise of one or two points (i.e. 4 to 6 mmol/l)? If it's stay the same or lower. I can usually have two eggs, two slices of turkey bacon (yes I do...

    Looking for low carb cracker

Sorry I was mistaken. They are 4 carbs per 8 cups. Also miss spelled them. They are called Siljans. Still at only 4 carbs per 8 I can have a few of them with my guacamole with out a sugar spike.

    Looking for low carb cracker

Thanks for the recommendations. Only problem is im not in the UK. I might be able to find them here in Canada. On that note I did find a product called Siljins. They are a small cracker cup and they are only 2 carbs per 8 cups. I could eat the whole box of 24 at that rate.
