I had my first real emergency today

Good point. Probably not, I couldn't get the straw out of the wrapper of one I had the other day. I bought more of the glucojel as well though but that's even harder to open. Chemist had no glucose tablets in stock. I wish they made them small so I didn't have chew them but I guess crushing them...

I had my first real emergency today

I'm back from the shops! I now have UHT orange juice in every room of the house and also outside next to my chair. Very decorative. No novorapid today yet and only 6.2. Maybe I'm cured!!!!!

I had my first real emergency today

Yes I usually check my dexcom against a glucometer because when I'm low the glucometer usually says I'm lower than what the dexcom says (1 to 1.5 mmol/L lower). I didn't check my low this morning because I knew I had to treat it no matter what the number said. Yes, I know -- or suspect -- why...

I'm pretty envious of that graph. The butter might slow the peak

I had my first real emergency today

And I just had another alarm "3.1 mmol/L within 20 minutes". Getting sick of this. Ok, glucogel and crisps. We can handle this

@EllieM do you have any experience with dexcom clarity? Are those "events"/alerts just when the alarm went off (I think they must be because I went lower than that)? But why aren't the events in order of time?! E.g. Oh. Nevermind. They're backwards in time. Need some of @Antje77 's whiskey

I had my first real emergency today

I've just been looking at my dexcom clarity results for yesterday and they don't make sense. For a start they're not in chronological order! Anyway, at 4:29 AM I went to 2.8. But I think that must be the level that my alarm goes off (the "event") not what the lowest I got to was; e.g. if I look...

I had my first real emergency today

I had orange juice followed by white basmati rice with some kind of jarred curry sauce, chips (crisps) and a honey sandwich. I think the crisps last the longest. I went highish, but not crazy (15 or something). I then went hypo again overnight at about 4AM (it's 6:45AM here now) and didn't even...

I had my first real emergency today

I'm going hypo again right now btw. 3.5 on dexcom, 3.1 fingerprick. But I can still move and, kind of, think. I've skipped my nightly lantus dose Edit: skipped lantus dose as advised by a doctor

I had my first real emergency today

It's astounding isn't it? If you'd asked me yesterday if you could feel/be like I'd have said no. But now I know. It's the strangest experience in the world. I was thinking but could not act

I had my first real emergency today

Now I just have to wait for this lantus to wear off I guess :)

I had my first real emergency today

I had heaps of hypos when I was first on insulin. @EllieM @Antje77 and lots of other people on this forum helped me get through that. But those numbers I had in the early days were just that: numbers. I have never been unable to walk to the fridge or had my heart racing and my hands shaking like...

I had my first real emergency today

Yeah I can buy some UHT orange juice, that's an excellent idea actually. As long as they're close to where I am I don't care about the taste. I know it sounds stupid, my fridge is like 10 metres or something from where I was yesterday I just could not get there. I've also crushed up some of my...

I had my first real emergency today

My alarm is now set to 4.7. The other dexcom alarm is fixed at 3.9 (can't change it). The problem is that, well for today at least, the alarm is going off every 15 minutes. I'm 3.3 now (2.9 fingerprick) and functioning ok but those readings are too low for comfort especially now I know that I...

I had my first real emergency today

I have the dextrose tablets. Unfortunately I lost all of my teeth as a side effect of cancer treatment so unless I have my dentures in I can't chew them, so orange juice and honey are my "go to" treatments

I had my first real emergency today

Oh I also now have a glucagon thingy :)

I had my first real emergency today

Yeah the alarms have been reset. But I think I have alarm fatigue, I click them to go away haha. Before yesterday I actually didn't know it was possible for a hypo to cause someone to not be able to move or take action of any kind. I'm just very lucky mum was here and I could speak. I was...
