No innovations 3 years since introduction Libre?

Eversense will probably be available very soon. I will be going to London at the weekend to see what it's all about. Medtrum will also be launching later this year with their cgm. Competition usually makes companies lower their prices so the more, the merryer

Trialling the vibe in 2 weeks!

I usually wear a lycra stretch type bra or keep my Vibe in the top part of high waist lycra stretch knickers and that works fairly well and keeps the pump safe. The Vibe is small but heavy but I can keep it vertical in the centre of my bra or horizontal in the top part of my knickers. It has...

    Hypo

The hypo awareness symptoms that the NHS lists were used years ago when diabetics used the older insulins like twice daily and animal. Analogue insulins can give varying symptoms but as long as the awareness is felt and acted upon before it gets to the point of needing help, then all is well.

    Type 1 Diabetic Retinopathy

Background retinopathy can get better with bg levels a bit tighter and plenty of bg testing to determine safe bg targets

    Hypo

Whenever I feel low! I get a weird feeling of weakness in my legs to begin with and then a stiffening sensation going through my upper body resulting in disorientated with trouble in being able to concentrate. I never bg test when I get this feeling because I know that I am low and don't need a...

    DAFNE messed me up

Twice daily insulin might be far better for you and is relatively simple to use once the correct amount of carbs can be worked out for a main meal, snack.

where do you put your cannulas?

The Combo is still available so need for the Insight if the sets are no good

where do you put your cannulas?

See if you can change from the Insight to the Spirit Combo. The Combo uses standard luer lock tubes whereas the Insight uses tubes with a black snap on connection. The Animas uses standard luer lock tubes and has much nicer sets than Accuchek luer and are compatible with both pumps.

    correction doses

I haven't used MDI since changing over to a pump but I try to get my basal and bolus to be ok to give me a bg of about 6mmol before a main meal but allow for a rise upto 8.5mmol 2.5hrs later. If I am higher than 8.5mmol post meal, I will use my pump to work out a correction dose for me so that...

    DVLA and hypos

My recent hba1c was 51mmol which is around an average of about 6.7% which is looked upon as being ok so your 31mmol may seem ok to you but unfortunately is going to put you at risk of not being able to recognise the symptoms of the hypo feeling until your bg drops down to under 3mmol which...

    DVLA and hypos

Mamma Mia..........31mmol is way too low and will account for the below 4mmol bg readings which is the reason for your GP to notify the DVLA, not because you have lost your awareness but will be in danger of doing so unless you mend your ways. Who recommended you to aim for a low hba1c?

    DVLA and hypos

From reading the posts on this thread, I presume that @rmz80 doesn't attempt to drive their car when bg levels are at 4mmol or below so is in no danger of having a hypo unless driving a vehicle all day long and not testing every 2hrs. I do think the GP has jumped the gun a bit but only a...

    DVLA and hypos

Could I politely ask what your current hba1c is @rmz80 ? Many GP practices are now following revised guidelines due to many diabetics appearing to lose some degree of their awareness of a low bg level and have arrived at the conclusion that its safer to achieve an hba1c of between 6.7 to 7.5%...

Ryzodeg insulin has anybody tried it ?

I used the mixed insulins for about 20yrs and loved it. Two injections per day and eating a main meal, then a small snack mid morning and mid afternoon was normal to me as most people who don't have diabetes will eat a snack of some sort. I didn't feel restricted that much on what I could eat...

    Insulin Not Effective

My thoughts on this is that it could be the basal rate settings that are not quite right anymore. I often get changes to bg levels at different times of the day but I usually wait for 2 days in a row for the same pattern to occur and if necessary, I tweak the offending basal rates and keep bg...

Cannula irritation - prevention suggestions please.

For Accuchek sets, I usually use a quick spray of Liftplus adhesive remover. I gave up using bio oil because I couldn't be bothered after the first 6 months of pumping. I only use tea tree oil as antiseptic to dab on the needle holes left by 30 degree sets. It stinks too the high ? and OH...

    i hate my pump

@IceLover Most pumps have pros and cons but over time, with some compromises, we all get used to them and the way they work. For yourself, you are new to pumping so if you are having issues with the way the pump is working for you, then contact your DSN by email or letter and at the same time...
