does this mean I have not been getting Basal?

You shouldn't be dropping 10mmol in 30mins so check that the towel you are drying your hands with after washing them, hasn't been contaminated by something that might cause bg levels to rise or that you yourself handled something that might affect bg. Also, open up a fresh tub of strips just in...

does this mean I have not been getting Basal?

There's a big difference between carb ratios of 1.5u to 10g and 1.0u to 10g (bit like 1u to 6g) might be better to adjust to 1u to 8g or 1.2u to 10g and see how that works

does this mean I have not been getting Basal?

Have a look at your basal rate time blocks to see if the dsn has put in 0.00u to be delivered because you were going low

does this mean I have not been getting Basal?

It might be that the Tresiba is now on the way out and that will be causing bg to go higher.

5.7 to 3 in 10 minutes - an all time record..?

Has yr TDD changed recently and do you use a correction factor to reflect the bg target you want to get? How much does 1u drop your bg level by? If you weigh less than you did, that will change yr daily insulin need and the correction factor as well

    Site and cartridge change.

When people first start with a pump, everyone is nervous over filling the cartridges ok and inserting the sets so that's why most fill the cartridges with 3 days worth of insulin and then change set and cartridge so that they get used to inserting sets and filling cartridges. You don't...

If you want to test yr nightime basals, try to get yr bg ok before going to bed so if necessary give a bit more bolus with eve meal and make sure that you wait about 5hrs before you start the test otherwise the basal adjustment won't be quite correct and you'll end up needing to change the...

@lely Unfortunately, probably none of the pump settings will be correct at the moment and until you are able to get the TDD okish, then the correction dose will be a bit hit and miss and the carb ratio might not be correct either, but no one can be expected to get perfect results just like...

@Gaz-M and @lely ......take it easy a bit with the desire to get basal rates sorted esp because of the background insulin from pens phasing out and you don't want to look like death warmed up because of hardly getting any sleep due to bg testing every night so basal test one night and then...

I was advised to reduce my nightime levemir and omit taking the morning dose so that there would be hardly any background insulin working and I just had an omelette for breakfast so not much bolus working by the time I was coming home with pump connected. Not sure about Tresiba but as it's...

    foot drop please help !!!

Right I see......... All this isn't Ryans fault then, it's down to the advice given by the HCPs where they think that using a ratio isn't needed and just adjust the carb to the action of the basal/bolus. Might be so much easier for Ryan to use twice daily insulin and use the occasional bolus...

Type 2 Please Help: Question about insuman comb 25 and treatment.

What is yr diet like carb wise and how often do you eat a main meal and a snack? Also, are you able to bg test about 6 times during the day.....pre meal and then 2.5hrs later? Often with twice daily insulin, it's necessary to eat the little but often way and the level of carb adjusted to...

    foot drop please help !!!

Hi Ryan If you live on yr own, try to keep the amount of carb that you eat at a set amount of about 30g for each meal and as Ruth has said, do the bolus using a ratio about 20 to 30 mins earlier providing that you are not going a bit low. If you do go low, eat some glucose as that is short...

    What pump to choose??

Unless someone is going to be in the water for hours at a time, there isn't really any need to get a pump that is waterproof as its possible to disconnect from a pump to have a bath or shower or to go swimming for an hour.

    Antisocial aspects of LCHF diet?

If you live near an Asda, a FreeFrom ready sliced GF loaf can be bought for £1.50 which is not bad. My partner is coeliac and can't tolerate wheat or malt so uses crumbled up rice cakes with milk to make a breakfast cereal which tastes quite nice .

Ideally get 0.5u insulin pens. Not sure if the Flexpens only deliver in 1.0u

Actually, the Aviva strips might not be supplied by the rep so try to sort out the prescription with GP or buy some as then you will be prepared ok

The keytone meter is supplied as a safeguard to detect keytones if bg goes really high due to illness or pump malfunction. I've never used a keytone meter myself even though I've got one as tend to use pen to deliver insulin if bg goes into double figures. The keytone strips are expensive...

    Antisocial aspects of LCHF diet?

Try eating an assortment of veg in smaller qty and only eat a small portion of meat and see if that helps. Also, try eating GF carb as wheat based products can cause problems that is not related to coeliac disease. I think its possible to buy charcoal tablets from health food shops but dont...
