Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Doing this has crossed my mind. Especially as in a document produced by my LA ‘Covid Guidance for Primary Schools’ it states with regard to staff ‘in circumstances where the request is reasonable’ they can be allowed. I did send this to my headteacher but got no reply. I have told Occupational...

type 2: blood glucose after food

If you are missing bread, why not try livlife? It has 11.6 carbs per 100g which works out at 3.8g per slice. This is what I use and it does not affect my blood glucose when I test. It is available at Waitrose or Ocado at £1.55 per loaf. I know you can get it on Amazon but it is more expensive on...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I think any of you who do not work in schools would be amazed to see people carrying on as though Covid 19 does not exist in schools. It truly is a parallel universe. Whilst many of the older staff are concerned, I haven’t heard many of the younger teachers saying much. That may be because I...

I wish we were allowed these things even in primary schools. However, it seems unlikely given they will not even allow vulnerable people wear masks.

That is true. Whenever the situation in schools is brought up on the news or current affairs programs, teachers, though rarely mentioned, are always shown socially distancing. I cannot remember any of the many other staff who work in schools getting a mention. We are often reminded that children...

Max, I hope everything goes well for you now you have left. I’m sure not having to worry about putting yourself at risk daily will be a huge weight off your mind. Such a shame it had to come to that though.

How long have you been LCHF?

Nearly 5 years for me. Never been on meds. Like some others I discovered LCHF very soon after my diagnosis. I don’t think of it as a diet that has an end. It is just how I eat (and I like it!). I lost 4stone 7lbs in a matter of months and have kept it off. Feel so much better for it.

I agree with you JRT. It seems to me, everyone is trying to pass the buck, so in the end nothing gets done. I don’t want to give up work yet, I’m 59 years old and still have something to offer. However, the callousness of the government guidelines for vulnerable people and the inability, of...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Thank you Max. I did speak to my union after my headteacher arranged an appointment for me with Occupational Health. The lady I was speaking to again quoted ‘they have to follow the government guidelines’. She did say she would speak to her superior in case they have any other ideas and she...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I find it very reassuring that there are several people on here who understand and have often lived or are living through very similar situations as mine. When you keep being told, you are being irrational, masks and visors won’t help, you just need to carry on, you do begin to wonder, am I...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

I think the way clinically vulnerable people have been abandoned/forgotten shows a complete lack of understanding of how putting yourself at risk on a daily basis can affect your mental health as well as physical health. You cannot just say you may get this severe illness, you may die but off...

It is strange isn’t it how reluctant GPS are to acknowledge this illogical situation? I did have one who wrote to my school requesting that I should be allowed to wear a mask. However, during the time it took for the LA to decline my request we did have a staff member contract Covid19. When I...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Another interesting meeting (by telephone). This time with occupational health. All I want to do is to be allowed to wear a face mask at work to reduce my risk of getting Covid and the possible severe illness that may follow. The problem I have is I work in a primary school and face masks are...

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Funnily enough, I was having exactly the same conversation with my husband last night re the opt in opt out option. It seems to me, as you have mentioned, some are comfortable with just carrying on as ‘normal’ while others wish to exceed the Government guidelines. I know you can do that already...

I think this is the heart of the problem. Nowhere can be completely Covid safe. To say anywhere is Covid secure is not true. Precautions can be taken but to be inside, particularly now the weather is getting colder, in a working environment with lots of people for long periods of time cannot be...
