    Tentative question... HbA1c 81

It does sound better to avoid riding for a while if your horses aren't the quietest rides - might be different if you had an old plod. But I know what you mean about walking the dogs not being the same as going for a good ride - especially now spring is coming. All the best, and I hope you can...

    Diabetic retinopathy and driving

Have now had the Zeiss lenses put in my glasses, but haven't really had to drive in the dark yet - they seemed to work well on a dull, rainy day with drivers with headlights on, but the real test will be in the dark!

    Why no weight loss?

Thank you all so much - it's been really helpful reading all your answers, and I'm very please to say that the weight is starting to move! Nearly 2kg off in 10 days! I now have something to aim for - apart from good health! I went to see my Renal consultant yesterday and he is going to put me on...

Type 1 Nerve damage pain in legs

I've had neuropathy in my feet for years, but my pain is quite well controlled on Gabapentin, but is a prescription only drug, but well worth asking your doctor about. I hope you don't mind me saying, but from my own personal experience, I wouldn't encourage the use of tramadol - I was on it for...

    Blood Glucose Meter Memory

Quote "In 10 your I've used about 30 different meters.." I've been diabetic and using a meter for over 20 years and I should think I've had about 6 or 7 meters! What do you do to them?

    Pain in both hands

Hi - I have neuropathy in my feet, as opposed to my hands and I'm on gabapentin as well. If my feet hurt more I just up my pills (i do have my drs permission to!) So maybe you've just been started at a low dose and need to have it raised.

    Why no weight loss?

Yes, although T2 I'm on insulin and have been for about 12 years. My retinopathy has had a lot of laser work and I've had cataracts taken out of both eyes. Fortunately the condition is stable, and regularly checked. I've been retesting about 2 hrs after supper, and my sugars are very seldom more...

    Why no weight loss?

I did LCHF very seriously just over 2 years ago and lost 4.5 stone. Unfortunately things happened last year and my diet went to pieces and I've put 1.5 stone back on. I still need to lose another 2 to 3 stone to be happy about my weight. My blood sugars are good, but in the 24 years I've been...

    Why no weight loss?

I've been seriously adhering to the low carb diet for a fortnight now, have kept my carbs to 60 or under, and lost a measly 0.6 of a kilo! I'm being as active as I can, walking or exercising each day but now feel rather despairing! I'm having a keto egg muffin in the morning, some cheese and a...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

I've decided that I'm going to really knuckle down now, I'm tired of being overweight. I desperately want to lose weight from all over, but especially my tummy which has always been big since I was a child, but now the look is not enhanced by a laparotomy a few years back, slit from under bust...

    Peripheral neuropathy and diabetes

If you use a foot cream try Allpresan - it's a foam specially for diabetics, that doesn't stay moist between your toes, like ordinary creams do - I get mine on prescription from my doctor; I don't know if you can buy it over the counter.

    Well this was weird yesterday

I experienced very low blood sugar, when I was in hospital once - it went down to 1.1 and as fast as they were pumping lucozade into me, I was vomiting it back up. They put me on a glucose drip after that and I was fine. So I should imagine that your blood sugar went very low. And yes, animals -...

    Peripheral neuropathy and diabetes

Yes, I have this too. My doctor has put me on Gabapentine, which has almost stopped the horrible pains in my feet. Didn't know that it caused nocturnal peeing though!

So, Back on the Wagon for 2020

I had to have two injections of steroids for a dodgy knee and finger about two and a half weeks ago, so have been trying to convince myself that my still raised blood sugars are down to that, but deep down I know that they're not!
