Sorry just an afterthought, out of interest which pump do you use?

    Pump diemma

Interesting, thanks for that, I appreciate your reply and in all honesty think that those sites would probably do me more favours! And I think I probably have just enough coverage to give me site options!!! There are definite no go areas for me after years of use I simply cannot get control out...

    Pump diemma

It's sometimes the obvious things you don't think of! And yes, I guess there is no reason I couldn't do that!! I sometimes feel there are times when I am ill or whatever reason my BGs have rocketed and I have to wait so long for Humalin S to tackle it so I can see that as an advantage when...

    We need delayed-onset insulin!

I am currently on MDI and have been reading Think like a Pancreas' I used to take Humalin (NPH) at split doses but have actually just switched to Lantus again as Humalin does help with DP but for me I had to get past the peak at 2-3am first!! I have spent years hypo'ing at night hence trying...

    Pump diemma

That's really interesting, shame you can't do that on MDI at times, hence still being on Humalin S, I find a slower action suits me!! But at times rapid action would be good too! On MDI I could do with every insulin option at times, hence the appeal of the a pump! Thank you for your insight, my...

I agree the Libre and such like in my experience also doesn't meet with great enthusiasm with my healthcare team (but I'm learning little does!) And I never thought to approach Libre direct...maybe an option, I'm always up for trying my luck!!;)

No @mentat I had no idea there was such a function! And that sounds like that would be a viable option for me at certain times! Is this a function on all pumps? I am learning so much already I just hope I remember it all!! Thank you, that is something I will make a note of!

    Pump diemma

Yes @catapillar I fully intend on reading that book as it comes so highly recommended! I have the next few months to think this through and through my own choice, 'do the research'. I am coming round to the idea of learning it all for myself and the last time I had a pump I didn't know about...

    Pump diemma

@helensaramay Thank you! You have obviously been through a few ups and downs and trial and errors! But you are finding a way which is encouraging! I can't imagine getting a trial CGM out of my health authority! Would have been good! Just hard work working it out for ourselves I guess, Which pump...

    Pump diemma

@tigger thank you for your advice and I have contemplated funding CGM for the startup for my pump! Simply because I struggled so much last time and if I am honest after reading yours and @azure posts I know I can probably sort things out myself! I probably relied too much on my nurses input (why...

Thank you @novorapidboi26 for your words of encouragement, out of interest which sites do you find most effective and comfortable?

    Pump diemma

@himtoo thank you for your reply, I am of course offered ANY pump....we'll see! I know my health authority supports accu-check but my consultant mentioned the omnipod so he does seem open to what I would like, which is cool! Interestingly at my consult I asked him if I would still qualify for a...

@Vwhite1980 your information is a great help and yes you did have a good team 'pre pump' clinic??? Lol I did equally find Roche so helpful! They were in fact amazing when I phoned them at 11pm cos my nurse was on holiday!!! I can't really fault them, I know they have a hidden agenda but I...

    Pump diemma

@Claire007 That information is very interesting and I can see you prepared yourself in advance well, something I probably didn't do too well and then unfortunately was left to my own devices! I take on board what you say and I think my hypo's could of been dealt with much better. Your level of...

    Pump diemma

@azure I thought I remembered that you didn't use analogue insulin, but how hard was that to achieve? and get past the professionals. I've found it hard on MDI not to have rapid acting insulin. Like I say my nurse is very one tracked, this pump, this insulin! but my consultant is different, but...

    Pump diemma

Right, so here it is, I tried a pump the accu check combo three years ago and I gave it a shot for six disastrous months! I so wanted it to work but alas…The reason I am posting is because I am contemplating another go, so I will highlight my problems and hopefully some of you experienced long...

I'm switching my bolus to leg only for a few weeks. Tips needed!

This diagram is a good reminder for me! I tend to bolus in abdomen or arms and basal in legs or buttock. I get great result in buttock but I started my career injecting in the leg and they are much tougher and I have started slipping round to the sides more and wasn't sure just how far I could...
