Nice one let me know how it all goes @pwzero as i'm about to start using the 640g and cgm this week and it's nice to see how things go for others using the same technology etc
@ChrisM28 Sounds like long acting issues. Sometimes when testing for changing dose for hypos I go the other way, I drop the long acting right down so I am having highish sugars and then build it up nightly to get to the right levels at 2am
You need to bring those hypos under control fast @letitia7778 . I also had the exact same problem as you and it is generally because of unpredictable long acting combined with poor carb counting for fast acting insulin and blood sugars start to move literally like a roller coaster.
i've deliberately injected fast acting humalog into the viens in my arm (where people inject recreational drugs ). I have had diabetes for 40 years and although I don't do this all the time I have done this to reduce high blood sugars faster. It still takes quite some time for the insulin to...
What has worked for me to kill the dawn phenomenon and also bought my hba1c down to 5.9 os using two doses of long acting a large one in the morning and a small one at night both given at very randomish times between 5-10am and the other between 7-11pm of course I'm a type 1 of 40 years.
Re your work @Vaper, insulin pumps use one type of insulin only, the fast acting kind, so you don't have long acting insulin working at random-ish times and so you can fine tune it a lot easier, this alone I personally found changed everything.
Prettysideofugly gee it's a rough start for you isn't it and you're thrown in at the deep end. I have had type 1 for 40 years and was diagnosed at age 3, in many ways this worked in my favour because I never knew any difference. You sound like and would be advisable to have a support group to...
Ricki it depends mostly on where you live because each country has different ways of paying for a pump. They cost roughly 8K-10K. I can only comment on Australia and here anyone with health insurance that has basic hospital cover can get a pump fully paid for with a signature from an...
I was diagnosed Type 1 at age 3 by my mother who was certain I had diabetes but the Dr wouldn't have any of it and said it was just normal child behaviour, so my mother took me to the childrens hospital in Melbourne and they had me diagnosed that day.
I wasn't actually implying you were sedentary etc, just that you may need to speed you metabolism a bit by fine tuning your diet insulin and exercise, and that with some help you have all the tools to make it easy. Sorry if I sounded like I was being hostile.
As a type 1 for many years I can guarantee if you slow the input of carbs and ramp up the physical activity the weight will fall off. You will have to make adjustments as things happen but it isn't that difficult to lose weight, living a sedentary life while eating too much for your age will do...
Bassiette, antihistamines and stimulants won't generally block the bodies adrenal response to low sugars. How long have you had diabetes and been using insulin?
I have no problems with injecting but I have terrible problems with high sugars and if I cant find a needle or bottle of insulin to inject I start to panic and get quite anxious. Like azure said is there any reason you don't want to inject?
Hi I'm close to you and live in Melbourne Australia. DKA is nasty. I have had diabetes type 1 for 40 years. I have had DKA only once when I was about 20 years into diabetes. I was given morphine because I was in extreme body cramps and in a lot of pain. My breath smelled like acetone and I was...
