I wasn't told to take regular B/G checks at anytime when I was a HGV driver. Def not with Metformin or Sitagliptin, Gliclazide may be different tho.

Then followed nerve damage & now horrendoud tingling/burning in lower legs & worse in thigh areas. I was type 2 for about 15 years or so & never bothered, just carried on as normal. Own...

    Dvla 3 year medical form

The hospital consultant said to me quite clearly, YOU DO NOT HAVE GLAUCOMA. Three years later & many regular eye exams still taking eye drops for Occular Hypertension. DVLA wrote to me recently "About your Glaucoma?" wanting details which I supplied as requested. Next request was a demand for my...

Glicazide added to my repeat prescription

Gliclazide caused weight gain with me also can cause hypo's, my DN told me they keep working when BS level is good. A better alternative is Sitagliptin, no hypo's or weigtht gain, however does cost a lot more than Gliclazide & some doctors are reluctant to prescribe. As if they are paying for...

    Neuropathy

I have just been diagnosed with Diabetic Neuropathy & will keep an eye on this thread. My doctor prescribed Duloxetine 60mg capsules for the pain & found they work very well BUT the tiredness is horrendous, really struggling to stay awake most of the time.

I bought my own BP monitor years ago from ASDA for £9.99p brilliant a Omron Basic. I often calibrate against my heart nurse's monitor & still good. I saw the same one at my pharmacy last week for under a tenner. Home BP testing is much better than going to the Doctor or Nurse because you are...

    TAXI LICENSE REVOKED

It's all here. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/information-for-drivers-with-diabetes FWIW, I think taxi drivers should be subject to the same rules as any other professional driver too.

    TAXI LICENSE REVOKED

DVLA medical rules are very tough for HGV & PSV licence holders. If your local council are following those same rules then I think your licence will be revoked for one year, subject to no other "Hypo's". I wish you well with this.

dvla visual fields test faulty equipment affected results- anyone else?

A mate of mine failed his PSV eye test at his opticians & his PSV license was revoked. A year later he got a letter out of the blue stating that a mistake had occured, didn't say where the mistake happened & he could apply for his PSV back ! The DVLA (a private entity) can & do, just as they like.
