    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

That was so lovely of you to mention me, I'm just glad that I could help you with your starting out here and here is to your continued health as well. Managed to upstage me too, I am going to have to try harder now aren't I? You've done so very well and I cannot tell you how proud I am.

I swear they focus on HBA1C's too much...

Mildly elevated wasn't really the half of it with it being around 40 then but it's down to 10 now. Seems a lot of the time we do have to monitor ourselves and our health which does bug me because we need all the info we can get going forwards. I make sure to be on my online patient record now so...

    Finally taking this seriously

Used that myself! Still do in fact when I feel like being a lil' naughty along with diet drinks. These days it's getting myself some new clothes or parts for my computer that I saved by not buying my usual £30 junk binge per month. (Yes I really did spend that much)

    30 and just diagnosed today!

Ah sorry if I didn't word it properly but that's what I meant and please by all means stay on the soapbox it's an issue that needs highlighting as much as possible.

    30 and just diagnosed today!

Hi! Welcome to the forums! I'll admit that I sort of had the same experience here myself, for me it was a bad case of thrush and it turned out to be type 2! I would in your case keep chasing up about your diagnosis as that sounds an awful lot like type 1 to me which is always possible in the...

    Finally taking this seriously

I'm proud of you for taking control of the situation, I'll admit that I was the same way when I first became diabetic. One whole year of binging and hating myself lead me to the brink but taking control and holding yourself accountable? Brilliant. I know it is hard at first but think of how you...

I swear they focus on HBA1C's too much...

Decided to take a look at my ALT levels this morning out of curiosity and MY WHAT A DROP. A lot of my metrics back in December were terrible and yet it was just my HBA1C that took center stage?! Let no one say that a well done LCHF/P diet doesn't reverse fatty liver or at least doesn't help it...

Best tenner I've spent this year.

Never apologise for a rant, you are doing such a sweet and wonderful thing for your mother. Did the same with my Dad as well and getting his HBA1C down and his weight so never give up there!

    Hospital Update

Why in heavens name do they think anything above even 7 is stable I have no idea! You should be with the specialists and getting these tests done, seems like they just want to fast track you out of there and be done with the consequences. Lunacy.

    Frustrated with GPs

Seeing this as being a pattern now, people having to take it into their own hands. I think a lot of so called 'experts' as @Guzzler says are just embarrassed they didn't do anything for you and thus turn to being rather offstandish. Testing is how you know anything is going on!

    Newly Diagnosed and Confused

Oh always praying, you can count on that one! :angelic: I just hope it does go well! They do forget about body biology and that we are all different, I bet their own diet isn't doing them all that much good either. The point of being healthy is listening to your body when it tries to tell you...

    Newly Diagnosed and Confused

Sometimes you gotta be the master of your own condition, I ended up dropping Metformin way before I was told to stop taking it because it was doing nothing for me. Don't worry about venting, let it all out and we will be here to listen but it's the same stuff I got from my DN as I had ketones in...

What is your 3 month average bg reading?

My meter put me at around a 4.8 at 90 days and my latest HBA1C was 29 which is an average of 5.0 so I am rather satisfied at that accuracy.

    Newly Diagnosed and Confused

You really need to get that glic down if you are going to reduce carbs, can’t see why they would encourage you to reduce if they are not going to work with you on that front. Stress will drive it up but remember you are doing your best and it is a marathon! You’ll get there and keep us posted...

    Some good news at least!

Thank you! Never expected to get there but it happened and again you’ve been a massive inspiration to me.

    Some good news at least!

Gosh this has such amazing comments that I just had to address you all! Hard to believe something produced in our bodies to help us would be what kills us, I think inflammation is the more worrying aspect and I certainly feel I have that down. Thank you though, that means a lot! Thanks ert...

New to this forum and Type 2

Let me just say I am super impressed with how you have been taking this and the already great HBA1C reduction, go you! Things will get better over time and that is the best mindset to take, I have so much faith in you being able to beat this and there are so many members that have done it as...

    Some good news at least!

Surgery got in touch and confirmed that my statin script has gone up to 40mg as my bloods came back abnormal but didn't even talk about my HBA1C which was kind of funny so I chased it and they said normal, I said give me a number and that number was... 29! I wondered if I could do it and I...
