Diagnosed today type 1, scared and could use some advice.

Hello and welcome, all of the hugs to you! I know it's scary at first but make sure you get as much information from your care team as you can, you seriously need it. All the best to you through all this!

    Lipid levels

I did look at my results when I first took control when I got my 114 HBA1C and it wasn’t abnormal according to their metric with a 4.6 trigs, 1.0 LDL and 0.8 HDL which sounds awfully like a heart attack waiting to happen. Reducing the trigs to 1 and HDL up to 1 sounds a lot more like a...

    Lipid levels

Oh you know BB, I’m a naughty diabetic and we all should be taking them ;) I think I read my results and I had a really high Trigs and total cholesterol at the time. My LDL was 1 but my trigs were 4.6! Now they’re 1 and I find that is better.

    Lipid levels

So! Decided to get myself checked over yesterday just to keep a handle on my HBA1C levels but seems like they threw a lipid panel into the mix without me realising thus I had eaten a quite high fat meal before it. Breakdown as follows: Serum cholesterol level 6.4 mmol/L Serum triglyceride...

There is no such thing as a scientific 'proof'

That is completely true you are right there but what I take umbrage to is that people will die upon their hills when it comes down to some science. The laws of the universe are not really the laws of the universe but the laws how we percieve them. But I do completely back what you're saying...

    Self harm and diabetes

Never used needles here but I did use razor blades and it wasn't pretty at all during my 20's. What happened was that I opened up about it to someone and started addressing the triggers that started to cause it. I also started keeping a diary of positivity near wherever I knew I would run off to...

There is no such thing as a scientific 'proof'

"Remember kids, the only difference between science and screwing around is writing stuff down." Just made me think of this but I whole-heartedly agree @Brunneria and with everyone else! Science is supposed to be organic and ever changing just as the world does so. We are not the absolute...

    Serious Questions

Echoing what @MeiChanski is saying here, it's best not to blame yourself and just keep on pushing for all the tests because then you will have answers to use in the future. Never discount the power of getting some emotional help, I just dealy hope that things get better for you.

Hey there Josh, welcome to this corner of the internet! Take it from someone else who suffers from anxiety, hit up the doctors and get the blood tests done because your mind will spiral in any case of all the possibilities and if it's shown to not be Diabetes? Fantastic! Back to stressing about...

Can we say goodbye to Type 2 diabetes?

Thanks for the mention! Indeed and within a few months actually and now? Waking up to 3.9-5.0 in a morning now so goodbye to dawn phenomenon, it just takes a good bit of a low carbing. I am rooting for you to do it yourself!

Double cream - ideal for Diabetes

The higher the fat the lower the carbs usually, skimmed milk tends to have more than whole milk or cream. I usually use the ASDA fresh double cream which is 2.6g of carbs per 100ml here myself whereas their skimmed milk has 5g per 100ml so way down in comparison.
