    Type 1 and Statins.

This sort of info/advice is what I am looking for. I am personally, going to take a balanced approached to this. I know what I take at the moment, and how I have 'felt' for years, so if I am going to start taking Statins and experience any changes anything like what you have said here, then I...

Fair enough, I would be grateful if you could share your experiences, but understand if you do not want to.

    BTCC Thread.

Now there might be a theme going based on my F1 thread too, but, Does anyone follow the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship)? Along with F1, this is another passion of mine. It's probably the closest form of Motor Racing in the UK I was fortunate enough to work for a BTCC team at the last 2...

    2018/19 Football Season

Premier League is back again this weekend, and as a Spurs fan, I am not hopeful about the Liverpool game on Sunday! Let's hope that the Palace game at the 'new' Lane gets us off to a winning start there!

    Type 1 and Statins.

Totally genuine question, What do you know that makes you believe they are a dangerous drug? I am interested in learning as much as I can about this.

    Type 1 and Statins.

The fundamental difference is that I am a 'newbie' on here, but have had T1 for 15 years, so have quite a bit of experience to offer here to. The point of the thread was to gain advice from people with T1 and statin use. It seems like the majority of the people with an issue with them are T2...

    Type 1 and Statins.

Muscle issues was certainly something I have been advised about. The issue is that that wouldn't be good for my type of work, so have to balance long term health against short term wealth!! With the greatest of respect, I am not going to search on Google, if I did, I would already be dead...

    Type 1 and Statins.

Thanks for this, and sorry to hear of your experiences, but this is exactly what I want to read in order to get a balanced view. I have been advised to take them for 3 months, have a blood test done (whilst still continuing to take them) and to see what effect, if any they have had on my...

    What needle length...?

Another interesting thing that came out of my appointment today was the change from 8mm to 5mm needles for my Mixpens. I've gone from 12mm, to 8mm, now to 5mm. It seems the advice changes far too often! I get the use of longer needles if you are, maybe, overweight, but I am not at all in my...

    Type 1 and Statins.

I suppose I am just more curious as to if people who take Statins have experienced anything negative by taking them?

    Type 1 and Statins.

I genuinely think that the difference between T1 and T2 is the key. I think being able to manage your condition through lifestyle/diet plays a big part. T1 carries an inherant risk regardless of lifestyle/management, so taking Statins, imo, is probably a sensible approach. Probably the advice...

    F1 Chat.

I would love to see Leclerc challenge Vettel, not that I have anything against him, but he has been the No1 in a team too often and it would be good to see that change.

    F1 Chat.

Well let's do it then! lol I get that about Lewis, but you can't deny his talent. Certainly, Bottas has the talent too to trouble Lewis. I've been fortunate enough to have gone to the British GP twice and you don't apprieciate what's involved until you see it up close. Bahrain this weekend, and...

    Type 1 and Statins.

Not quite sure what you mean or are getting at by this? When you say 'mess with it at your own risk', what do you mean exactly?

Thanks for this, similar to me and good to hear!

    Type 1 and Statins.

I carry a few extra pounds, nothing major and exercise daily. I think the new advice is based on a long term view of prevention rather than cure. Certainly, higher than usual Cholesterol is an unfortunate trait of T1.

    Type 1 and Statins.

Had a follow up appointment with my Diabetes nurse today, and it's been recommended that I start taking Statins. Apparantly, NICE has now recommended people with Type 1 and over 40 should be given the option to take them. I should add that my Cholesterol is there or there abouts correct. I have...

    Needles in Spain

I can't add anything to what has already been said, other than I have been on the Ferry to Northern Spain a few times, and enjoy looking out for the whales and dolphins across the Bay of Biscay!

    DVLA and driving licence problems.

I understand and apprieciate what you have written here, and it all makes total sense. In my case here, with clarity, it appears to be a paperwork issue, that hopefully will get rectified quite quickly. BUT, what I do have issue with is the way that they have come down on me, and the...

I am so fed up with the effect of stress on my blood sugars.

Feeling like that is probably beyond the remit of most on here, I would genuinely urge you to seek some help if you have those types of feelings.
