I am so fed up with the effect of stress on my blood sugars.

Obviously, I don't know the exact ins and outs of your situation, but for me, I quickly realised there were worse off people in the world than me, and I had family reliant on me too. Sure I still have challenges, but not enough to get me down anymore! It genuinely sounds like you may need some...

I am so fed up with the effect of stress on my blood sugars.

Been there, and got the T-shirt, but I hope things work out for you for the best! A few years back, I had a business failure amongst other things, and it was a bad period, and I experienced similar things to you re. high BG levels and just finding control difficult. Don't give up and I am sure...

    DVLA and driving licence problems.

No, I remember telling the DVLA when I first was diagnosed best part of 15 years ago, and I have sent my Licence back for change of address since then, and did not really have any need to question it as it wasn't used, just on there. It's only been made clear to me the process now that this has...

    Units injected per injection/day.

Cheers guys for all the replies! I probably should have joined an information source like this years ago! I know I am pretty much on the right track after all these years, but after recent events it's good to hear advice and feedback from others in the same situation.

    Units injected per injection/day.

For sure, but it seems pretty clear from this that 'normal' is just what works best for the individual. I don't personally know any other people with T1, so it's always good to ask others in a similar situation.

    Units injected per injection/day.

Thanks, I have made some good headway today, and certainly feel better about the situation than I did over the weekend. Hopefully it may help others and serve as a bit of a warning to tread very carefully where the likes of the DVLA are concerned!

    Units injected per injection/day.

I do apprieciate that, it's was more for feedback/info as to what could be seen as acceptable. Maybe I could have worded the question a bit better!!

    Units injected per injection/day.

Without keep going on about it, it's my experience with the DVLA and driving that has made me stop and think. Having a bit of paper in front of you telling you that you do not understand Diabetes and Hypo's is a bit of a shock, but having looked at my levels, current HBA1C and what I do, I know...

    Units injected per injection/day.

I tend to use around 110 units a day on average, but a comment was made to me recently that it seemed high. Just interested in the feedback from others, as I know it's not a exact science for everyone.

    Units injected per injection/day.

Thanks for the replies. I know the question is a little vague, as there are so many varying factors. Just curious as to actual numbers rather than ratios, and maybe, what people would consider a high amount to inject to maintain a sensible BG level.

    DVLA and driving licence problems.

UPDATE. After lengthy calls to the DVLA today, I have found out that the issue mainly lies with the way the DVLA have interpreted a note written on the form by my Doctor. All I need to do now is get a note from my Doctor to specifically clarify these points and that I am perfectly safe to drive...

    Units injected per injection/day.

I had a few things come up recently regarding my T1 and how it's managed, and it's made me question and doubt what I am doing. I consider myself fairly well maintained, but am just curious as to feedback as to the number of units people inject either per day in total or in any 1 injection?

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

My latest results from this month have me at 73. Not great, but not terrible either, so some work to do. My work/lifestyle varies quite a lot, so I try to look after myself as best as I can, so it reflects in this reading I feel.

    Type 1 and your job.

As far as it stands at the moment, there is no actual evidence of any poor mangement, only that it looks like there needs to be some clarifcation as to having 'Hypo's' and 'severe' Hypo's. Some of the questions on the forms are not totally clear, but I know I answered them correctly. I have...

    DVLA and driving licence problems.

I realise all this now, but I genuinely thought it was the right thing to do as I felt I was killing 2 birds with one stone by having my sight test and photography done at the same time! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Not totally sure 'non disclosure' is the right way to go either, but I...

    DVLA and driving licence problems.

Thanks for this advice, it is very helpful. I will definately call them tomorrow amongst other people! I am dreading what this may mean for me in the short term. I cannot be without my licence, my wife doesn't drive and I have no immediate family close by to be able to assist. I live fairly...

You are bang on with this! I find trying to explain to Family/friends this quite hard, some just think I have to have a couple of injections a day and not eat sugar!!!

    DVLA and driving licence problems.

Thanks for this, I am 100% that I didn't tick any of the wrong boxes, as I went over and over the form before it was sent off. Also, I know that I didn't add any additional info to the forms, other than box ticking. This all came about after my 2nd medical at my Doctors, Now, until I have spoken...

    Type 1 and your job.

Blimey, that is a varying workload! How do you normally test and monitor your levels? I've got another thread going on here with issues that I am having with the DVLA, and supposed 'poor' management of my Diabetes, yet I feel I do everything I can to keep myself well, Just really tricky with no...

    DVLA and driving licence problems.

So far the DVLA have been nothing but unhelpful and unsympathetic. I have filled in the forms required in total honestly and this is what happens! Makes you wonder if honesty is the best policy! I totally understand my responsibilities with regards to 'normal' driving, but up until this point...
