    "live"from the pathology department

Back home now. Final result at 2 hours was 8.1. Half an hour after that it was 6.6, and at 3 hours I'm 4.7. I'm going to have some breakfast now. Will have to wait until Monday for the official result, but it looks as if I'm still pre diabetic. Thanks for helping to keep me occupied during the...

    "live"from the pathology department

10.7 at an hour and a half. It's going to be close. The person next to me is drinking a very aromatic coffee. I want my breakfast.

    "live"from the pathology department

11.6 at 1 hour. Hopefully I've peaked and it will start dropping soon.

    "live"from the pathology department

First test at half an hour is 11.2 Don't know how significant that is Feeling very buzzy from the sudden intake of glucose. Probably the biggest hit of glucose since the infamous Quality Street incident a couple of months ago.

Hoping for the latter, but you've probably got just under 2 hours to organize a welcome party for me.

    "live"from the pathology department

I'm having a GTT at the moment. I've now got a couple of hours of sitting around with nothing to do, so with the aid of my meter and smartphone I thought I'd provide live updates of my progress. Waking level 4.8 immediately prior to drink 5.3 I've had the drink and i'll let you know my first...

    Having a GTT

As I mentioned in a previous post I am having a GTT this week. I am planning to take my meter with me so I can check my levels myself during the test. However, I vaguely remember reading something about differing glucose levels in blood drawn from a vein in your arm and blood drawn at your...

    Liver dump ?

I'm having the GTT partly to see how diabetic I am, but possibly more to remind myself that I am still diabetic, because by all other measurable indicators I don't appear to be. I've had odd blood glucose levels for the past 20 years, highish fasting levels at the doctors and highish GTT...

    Liver dump ?

Interested in this thread because I'm having a GTT next week. I've brought my HbA1c down from 7.2 this time last year to 5.5 by weight loss and diet only. I'm not low carbing in the way that most people on here do, but I probably don't quite reach 150 everyday. Will this distort the result of...

    can someone help pls?

Your Hba1c average will be your average continuous BG level over the whole previous 3 months. The average from your machine will be only be your BG level at the times when you test. For example if you test regularly two hours after a meal, the average result from you machine will not reflect...

    Newly diagnosed

Are you sure about the HbA1c result? 12.3% translates to an average blood glucose level of around 20mmol, and I amazed that your GP is even considering treating this by diet alone. I was diagnosed with a 7.2% (average level around 10mmol) and my GP wanted to start me on medication.

Blood Sugar Level - Very Worried

She might have been wrong, but my Diabetes Nurse advised me that it is dangerous to exercise when sugars are at the 14 level.

    effects of steroid injection

I'm type 2 and had two injections at the same time in my neck and cervical spine area. Fasting levels went from low fives to eights and nines in the first few days afterwards. Took about 2 weeks to gradually return to normal. ( I also lost 6lbs over the same period without any change to my diet...

I think you'll find that antiseptic cream works better :)

    Worried about nothing???

What you described is very similar to the symptoms I experienced before my diagnosis of type 2. However, I was assured by my GP that there was no connection with my diabetes and down to exhaustion and stress. As others have suggested, get yourself to your GP and get tested, if only to put your...

    Flu Injection

I've had it for the past three years, although last year was the first time I got it for free. No noticeable side effects and I haven't had flu either. ( although I didn't get flu in the previous 30 years when I didn't have the jab). Remember that real flu is a far more serious and potentially...

    AMITRIPTYLINE

I was presribed Nortriptyline earlier this week, which is basically the same drug. The accompanying leaflet advised consulting with your doctor before taking if you were diabetic, so presumably blood glucose changes are a recognised side effect.

My blood sugar response to cortisone injections

Tested this morning for the first time since the start of the week. 5.7 fasting, which is the lowest it's been since the jabs. (and that was after take away chips and a square of chocolate last night). More alarmingly, the injections seem to have triggered a 5lb weight loss in the last 10 days -...

My blood sugar response to cortisone injections

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had two spinal cortisone injections last Tuesday. It has been suggested that these can raise the blood sugar levels in diabetics, and I can certainly confirm this. The evening before the injections my reading two hours after supper was 5.3. The following...

    Pleasant Surprise

I've been glucose intolerent for several years and was diagnosed as type 2 in July last year with an HbIac of 7.2. There was some question as to whether a period of severe stress had contributed to this high score and so it was decided that I would not start on medication and would see what a...
