    Kinda scared

I agree about rotating sites. Are you counting to ten before taking the needle out? It takes a few seconds for the insulin to all absorb into the body sometimes, pulling out too soon, some can be lost. How much is coming out? And how many units do you inject? Also it is worth investigating the...

I guess Abbott probably only care if it's "good enough" (which it just is, mostly). Improvement won't get us to buy more than 1 sensor per 2 weeks. I do imagine they'll get better at pre-calibration though, unless the variables responsible are human and can't be controlled. My 2nd sensor is...

Is that update for the reader? Or the app? Cool that you got extra time, clock must've skipped a beat or something[emoji14] Have found a few blog posts about reverse engineering the reader, but not sure I want to mess with it. Besides, I imagine once the glue starts to fail, infection could...

Type 1 Changing my cannular in work

I would tell them to consider other options, if not, let them hear from the powers that be. Sometimes jumping up a few levels to higher management can help too. Go over your boss's head. Walking around with exposed sharps is also a health concern.

What's the lowest hypo value you're ever had?

I've always been wary of pockets.. sitting on insulin = could get higher than 30degrees. Besides, when people have a go at my man-bag I get to pull the "how dare you be so insensitive - I've an illness!" card[emoji14] As for lows, mine is 2.3. Didn't feel too bad, but I'd just taken a nice...

    What's your weird hypo symptom?

Yes, I get a bot that way too.. so clear and crisp. Also yes, it's only occasionally.. usually just the bad stuff!

Yes! Haha.. I always thought it dangerous that we get "rewarded" for low BG[emoji14]

Freestyle Libre - Does anyone put it anywhere other than their arm?

I think my questions would be this: How homogeneous is interstitial fluid? (Eg Do different sites have a different lag time, or even a different relationship, to blood glucose?) Are there any major veins/ arteries/nerves at your new site that could be hit? I imagine the truth is it's just...

    Pain when injecting

If the needle is what's causing the pain it's easy to tell - stick a needle in without injecting anything. What else triggers your pain? You could try a numbing cream. Do you have any metal allergies? People get it with earrings/etc made of certain metals. If you have a severe one, needle could...

    What's your weird hypo symptom?

So, I don't know if anyone else gets this... When I reach a certain point, beyond just a bit jittery and sweaty, but before anything really bad... sort of high 2's/low 3's... I get this wonderful fresh light floaty feeling. I feel terrible about 15mins later, and am really too anxious/attentive...

Ahh the pitfalls of new technology... "Been busy, better do a scan... 2.5. ****! The bloody thing worked for one day and now it's gone back to reading low by 2mmol/L!! Better take a blood test so I have more data when I call Abbott to try and get a replacement tomorrow" ...blood test: 2.9mmol/L...

Yeah it seems like the kind of thing they'd have examined, but the needle does seem quite long. I could easily imagine some people hitting muscle. Not sure if that actually affects results, but I bet it'd at least be a little painful My sensor started behaving itself, in fact it's...

I'm not sure about exfoliating. The concept is sound (remove flakey skin), but the strength of exfoliants varies wildly, and it can cause more skin to peel than usual by damaging healthy layers. For the record, all I do is shave and wash with soap/water then allow to dry fully. No alcohol, no...

Libre - how far out would you go before replacement?

Hmm OK, I will monitor for another 24hrs then call I think. It seems to have settled back to being about 1 to 1.5 mmol/L under... which when you're 15 is actually good, but I've been under 9 all week (go me!), so the accuracy still isn't there It's not just the time lag, I did some testing...

    Carb confused

Something can have the same amount of carbs but be low GI or high GI. At the end of the day you need to cut back on carbs, fullstop - but choosing low GI over high GI could help even out the spikes of high blood sugar..

Libre - how far out would you go before replacement?

So have been getting some dodgy readings with my new sensor (only my second).... Eg: sensor = 3.5, blood/strip = 5.5. This has been going for 72hrs. At what point would you call it defective? My first sensor was great, always within 0.5.

    It's all moving fast!

I had the same reaction.. everyone around me was aghast.. it still hasn't really made me upset. Just. Interesting like you say. I'm an expert at putting off thinking about the future though...

    I miss pizza!

I'm not low carb, but another option - use pita or similar flat breads/wraps as the base... very crunchy, I actually prefer it

    Depigmentation at injection sites

Could it be scarring? My abdomen is covered in scars - very smooth and even, but light/pale (not from needles though). As far as returning to normal... I don't know about less than usual pigmentation. I got hyperpigmentation on my thighs from a rash and the dark patches are still there 5 years...

    Type 1 Opinions please (needles)

I use novo nordisk. Have wondered about BD, but no reason to change really. Here in AUS the needles are free (well, paid for via tax). No prescription necessary as long as you're on the NDSS (national diabetes something something... membership also free)
