    Have been keeping a graph for the last six weeks and as you say, noting foods and fluctuations. Also trying to estimate grams of carbs. consumed - bit tricky! Thanks for your help and support!

    Hi Bluetit1802. Results for Hb1Ac yesterday (first one I've had) were 6.1. After eating low-carb for 6 weeks, my finger-prick readings (testing as you suggested 4/5 times a day) are coming down! :) I will have another Hb1Ac test in 3 month's time, so we shall see!

    I will - thank you! and thank you so much for replying to my questions, you have made me feel so much better. It's very early days for me and a huge learning curve - there is SO much to learn, I was becoming rather dispirited until this afternoon, so feeling happier now

    I've only ever had the early morning fasting test (done in a lab. - I live in France, that's where they do them) so have never had a HbA1c.

    Yes, they are only morning numbers OK, that's interesting - will try that other testing times. Thank you. Should I ask my doc. for an HbA1c test?

    Thanks for your reply. My levels when I first started dieting seriously, about a month ago, were averaging 6.4.,yesterdays reading was 6.2 so it's heading the right way but not as fast as I had hoped - I suppose I'm just impatient . . .

    Hi, I'm new to the forum so hope I'm doing the right thing here! I've been told by my GP that I'm pre-diabetic so I am doing my best to modify my diet. Can anyone tell me please if sweet potatoes are acceptable? (in moderation, of course). Thanks.
