Which has better chance for long term good health?

I don't disagree. That's just not what I am asking. I don't want to go back to eating like I used to!

Which has better chance for long term good health?

Agreed. I guess my question is whether getting down to a non-diabetic level early and changing your lifestyle means you are better off than those lucky enough to eat what they want but stay in the pre-diabetic range. In other words, just because we have been told we have diabetes, are we as...

    Neuropathy AFTER gaining control?

Thanks for the reply. Glad you are doing better.

Which has better chance for long term good health?

I'm still new to being diabetic. Trying to understand the long term impact. If you control your diabetes going forward, do you have a chance to be as healthy as a non-diabetic? Let's say one person is overweight and has prediabetes for several years. The second person has prediabetes...

    Neuropathy AFTER gaining control?

How long have you been diabetic? I have completely changed my diet as well. This just came out of nowhere just as I was really getting good control of my blood sugar levels.

    Visceral fat

I lost 20 pounds in six weeks. Two months ago I had elevated liver enzymes (fatty liver). Got bloodwork done yesterday and my levels are no longer elevated. In fact, they weren't even close to the upper range!

    Neuropathy AFTER gaining control?

I wondered about that. I dropped from 8.5% a1c to 6.6% in about 6 weeks. I have seen more drastic changes than that here, but who knows.

    Type 2 Reversing type 2

This is the way I look at it. My dad had been pre-diabetic for years. He crossed over slightly into the diabetic range, but ate better and lost some weight and returned to the pre-diabetic range. Still there. I would consider him pre-diabetic now (not a diabetic), but obviously that could...

I can live with that. Love the profile pic!

    Neuropathy AFTER gaining control?

I was diagnosed two months ago with an a1c level of 8.5%. Went low carb and quickly lowered blood sugar levels (tested regularly) to normal or very close to normal levels. Re-tested a1c about 10 days ago and it was down to 6.6%. I have been diabetic for less than a year. Had no symptoms at...

How long does it take for beta cells to regenerate

Does timing factor in? I was diagnosed less than a year ago. Never been diabetic before. I have quickly gotten my levels back into normal or very close to normal ranges.

Type 2 Concerned about instant tingling in body after eating

I'm going through a similar thing now. Diagnosed 6 weeks ago with no symptoms. Got things quickly under reasonable control, dropped my a1c, and was starting to feel better. Then, almost overnight, started having the tingling and mild burning. Came on suddenly in both feet and some in both...

    Another newly diagnosed with questions.....

Ok, thanks Jim. I have seen articles about “treatment induced diabetic neuropathy” where the symptoms come on quick after rapid improvements of a1c. Usually resolves in time. I hope this gets better soon!

How long did it last, and what did you do to resolve? What did your doc say about it?

    Another newly diagnosed with questions.....

Thanks. I will definitely be checking it out. Not quite as bad today. Feels more like a buzzing in my feet. I hope I am not too late. I felt like I caught this pretty early, and I am doing all that I can to reverse it. Man I miss pizza and cokes.....but I can do without them!

    Another newly diagnosed with questions.....

First of all, this is a great forum with some amazing people! I was diagnosed with Type 2 back in early April. I had been prediabetic for several years, usually in the low to mid range (right around 6.0%). I know I should have tried to make changes earlier, but unfortunately I didn't. Just...
