    Support in diffferent areas

It occurs to me that the best advice for someone 'new' to the condition is to listen to those with the actual experience of dealing with it. I am full of admiration and gratitude for those that have offered their advice on this forum, convinced that had I not come across this when diagnosed, I...

Type 2s: What have you eaten today?

Now, I happen to love shellfish and fish in general, and therefore - livinglightly - your eating habits look to be rather enjoyable. However, I do notice a distinct lack of anything bready. Do you dismiss bready stuff entirely?

    Wondering ....

..... about exercise. I have been trying to maintain a regime which I hope will assist in reducing my bloods out of prediabetic and into 'normal' range. As a result of my neglecting exercise I have found it difficult to re-engage with it. I am focused on weights presently (at home, no gym) as...

    That's OK

Review of 3 month interval bloods. Was 60 now 46. Happy. No meds (did try, metformin .... lasted 2 days, cure worse than disease thing), just diet. However .... it was ever thus, the however I mean ... have been recording finger prick readings for past 3 months or so and have seen a gradual...

My first Bloods after 3 months

Congrats on latest results, I am hopeful for similar next week as had bloods this week. I envy your 'stick with it' ability. Your mention and description of metformin intake mirrored my encounter with it - not nice - ended up on phone to 111 However (there always seems to be a however with me)...

    Anyone else??

The above now appears to be somewhat close to speaking too early as I can now report that a sudden emergence has revealed nothing other than normal. Therefore, all reference to matters slimey and acrid need proceed no further. I'm hanging blame on Metformin.

    Anyone else??

In the late 80's I had a stomach ulcer, so current thinking is the Metformin has agravated scar tissue in the stomach and something like 'here we go again' is doing the rounds. Joy.

    Anyone else??

Since modifying my diet (quite substantially) and going low carb, I have tumbled into stomach problems, so much so that the 111 system was called into action the other day. The symptoms bore an uncanny resemblance to the result of taking Metformin for a couple of days - which were binned on day...

    Testing

Gawd, the factors involved to be remembered and I'm lucky to remember my name some days. OK, re the BBQ matter, sauces etc, no nothing like that, I cook over an open fire because we prefer it to oven cooking, so meat, fish, poultry is just plain (but very tasty). becca59 - as best I can remember...

    Testing

Repeating the second meal without the alcohol is a good idea, possibly not as agreeable, but worth a shot. I have repeated a breakfast today to compare with 2 days ago. The pre-eat test was 6.9 on both days with the 2hr after reading being; 8.9 and 9.1 respectively, which I am going to take as...

    Testing

I have been testing daily for the past 3 weeks, normally 5 times a day. I am also keeping a diary of what I have eaten to compare with these readings. As a result of this I have noticed readings which seem 'odd'. For example: Fri. 02.06.23 at 1810 pre dinner - 6.3 for dinner, gin & tonic...

    B>G> readings

I have been taking readings for some 3 weeks now, some of which seem to be out of sync with what has gone before. Now today I have had the following: 0645 FBG 6.9 2 cups of tea (dash of milk), one black coffee, no sugar in either 1315 pre something 4.8...

    Newbie terrified

Would have to agree with keeping both average and spikes down insofar as we are able. But as we do not exist in an ideal world, those averages are going to creep at times and the spikes are going to spike at other times. Yes do what you are able to do, but beat yourself up if you fall down from...
