    Advice for going low carb

The wonder of a forum is an argument can go on and on. It's not on topic and it's certainly not necessary. This post was giving me some good points from all angles, but it is quickly degenerating into name calling, which is the type of thing a moderator could lock the post for. We are all here...

    Sweeteners

I have gone too far the other way now. Much more successful looking meringue, but only a hint of sweetener, can't taste the Stevia at all this time! Third time lucky I hope :)

    Advice for going low carb

There are some strong opinions here, and I think everyone is genuinely trying to help. I would like to call an amnesty on previous posts so everyone can get along again :)

    Advice for going low carb

A fair point well made. I appreciate your input. And Dillinger, in reference to your earlier comment about my DSN, he did seem not to want to focus on my highs. He said my hypos were the only problem I should worry about, and that stopping those would stop the highs too. Once I had mentioned...

Thanks, I will keep an eye out for it. I'll see if they have any in Morrissons, if not I will go a bit further and try holland and Barrett's.

    Advice for low carb cookies.

I will add pannacotta to the list of things I intend to try! I put cookies on hold for today and tried making a low carb chocolate cake with almond meal. It came out pretty well and was definitely edible, but i need to work on my amounts. I think I needed a bit more vanilla and Stevia.

    Advice for going low carb

Thanks everyone, the advice really means a lot. In terms of Douglas99's comments, perhaps I should have clarified my original statement. I tend to err on the side of caution, and love to research things. Therefore, before I seriously considered low carbing, I did my research into both the...

She is indeed! She's not following it quite as strictly as I am, being a non diabetic, but she has cut down massively, and is gradually getting down to my level.

    Sweeteners

I have done some research, and think I may have to stick with the Stevia for now. Apparently a lot of powdered 'Low Carb' sweeteners add things like maltodextrin for bulk. When you look at the nutritional value, it often lists carbohydrate per 100g as almost 100. It may be that small quantities...

    Advice for going low carb

Well it's still early days, but I'm already feeling the effects of low carb. I bumped into a friend the other day who I have not seen since before Christmas. She told me I was looking good, and mentioned I seemed to have a lot more energy. She also said she had got used to seeing dark circles...

    Advice for low carb cookies.

That's amazing everyone, thanks so much for that! I'm determined to get a dessert perfected (or at least edible!), and hope to work something out today. I would love to make my wife a low carb dinner for Valentine's day. Thankfully I have no clients today, so I can experiment in the kitchen...

    Advice for low carb cookies.

I guess I will get hold of some and see if my blood sugars react well. An occasional test of this nature should hopefully be ok :)

    Advice for low carb cookies.

Hi everyone, sorry for the large number of posts and questions. That said, here comes another one! I want to make a low carb cheese cake as my wife is struggling with a lack of dessert following the low carb diet. The diabetes cookbook advertised on this site has a good looking recipe, but the...
