    Good and bad results

Thank you, that's very heartening. I was so upset and couldn't believe the lack of progress when I'm doing everything I should (with the occasional blip of course!). Yes my adjusted diet includes almonds, pepitas, avocado, sunflower seeds, flax seeds etc. Not sure what the NHS is up to these...

    Good and bad results

Thank you. My doctor didn't really talk about the breakdown too much. I guess she was trying to deal with my massive disappointment of not having lowered my total cholesterol since last test. She just wants my total to below 4.0.

    Good and bad results

Thank you for your observations. I really want to give myself a chance to get my cholesterol down before I give in to medication. I have no idea how long you can expect it to take? Do you know? (My cholesterol was 7.2 in early Jan and now 6.2, with a previous 5.8 in March I think. Bewildered how...

    Warning: Chocolate Cake Horror

I feel a bit better now, as I'm just back home from a family funeral and the usually excellent diet went a bit haywire...some sweet stuff, cheese and crisps. Struggle at family occasions and with stress on top of it. Was very disappointed in myself, but home now and back in my own kitchen, so...

    Good and bad results

Hi, I was diagnosed in January with bg level of 19.4. Big shock, especially as I felt pretty fine. Since then I've lost 13 kg and am now a size 12 ( which for me is weird), and have just got my HBa1c results 5 months later of 6.0. I should be delighted and have worked sooo hard to get to where I...

Why don't some people get it?

Hi Penfold. I'm just like you, diagnosed in January and simply getting on with making the most of the situation and dealing with it. Yes, results are easily achieved with Low Carbs etc. I appreciate your plain speaking, and agree, it's just not that impossible to deal with if you want to ensure...

    Ashamed.....

Hi Bronwyn. I think the way you're feeling is perfectly normal. I felt the same way when diagnosed in January. A big shock, and feelings of embarassment, shame etc having struggled with weight control all my adult life inspite of loving fruit/veg and home cooking. I've managed to turn things...

    Feeling good!

Hi, just sharing my good news. Was diagnosed with T2 diabetes early January (Happy New Year, not!) with a very bad HBA1c reading of 20, even though I felt fine, just THIRSTY. I also had high cholesterol at 7.2, which was another blow. Just found out my cholesterol has dropped to 5.8 and bad...

    Type 2 Blurred vision

Hi. I'm having exactly the same issue. Mine's been like this for about 5-6 weeks now. I think my eyes might be improving slightly but yes it's very disconserting! I've been told it's temporary but am getting a bit 'over it!" . Good luck!
