    Spikes after Sport

It's a bloody minefield! I'm a biology teacher and would like to think I've got the mind to understand the hormonal interactions. To be brief, I don't! Pop a couple of jelly babies in at half time. I always drop low after a game, but usually not until the night time.

    Spikes after Sport

I'm type one, so not exactly the same, but am also a keen hockey player. Whilst playing evening games over the summer league I found that would spike (19 once) after games. The advice I was given on this forum was that it could be because your liver dumps a load of glucose in response to...

    Inexplicable blood sugars

So sorry to hear you're having a mare! I can only echo what everyone else is saying, what works one day doesn't the next. It's f'ing infuriating. All I would say is that if you are consistently high after meals you may want to think about changing your I:C ratio. For me, I start to worry if my...

Freestyle Libre - Bleeding from sensor

My bleeders are normally more accurate. I've been using the libre for about 12 weeks now and have had a couple of bleeders. One all over my sofa which I wasn't too impressed about. Not sure Abbott will replace my sofa though!

    Mental health - help!

Hi all, I'm getting a bit concerned about my obsessiveness with controlling my diabetes. Beating myself up when I'm high and if I have a hypo it pretty much ruins my day. Irrational thoughts, running things over in my head again and again. This is amplified by being a mother of two...

Breastfeeding and blood sugars - help!

Thanks @azure. I've just ordered some new insulin because I'd had this lot since January. Only used to wake once for baby at around 2am. Libre shows a big rise all night. I've shifted 4 stone in weight post delivery but finally managed to get basal as it should have been. I'm tempted to think...

Breastfeeding and blood sugars - help!

Morning all. I'm an experienced insulin user, tweaker, breastfeeding mother. I recently did a basal test which showed, as I thought, that my night time levimir dose of 7units was fine for me. All is well. The past two morning's however, I have woken up with a blood sugar of 18!! The only...

Bless you! I've got everything crossed for you. I was induced at 36 weeks with my first. There will be so many people with so many different experiences. Mine came out through the sunroof in the end. Although you are nervous, worried, ******** yourself now.... have faith that everything will be...

    Type 1 Spikes after carbs

I feel like a bit of a fraud. Look at my graph this morning after a bowl of porridge! My ratio is 2:5 in the mornings and I have to bolus an hour before. Worked today, but other days it goes nuts! Pah!

    Type 1 Spikes after carbs

I do try to advance bolus. Breakfast dose has to be an hour before to avoid spikes!! Thanks for the info. Didn't think of the fat content inhibiting carb digestion.

    Type 1 Spikes after carbs

Thank you so much for the info. Definitely eating enough carbs to stay out of ketosis. About 20/30g per meal. Maximum 45g. I've just cut out starchy accompaniments - potatoes, rice, pasta etc. Thought it would help control, but now it so sure. Still trying to get my head around carb counting in...

    Type 1 Spikes after carbs

A quick question. I have recently been having a lower amount of carbs than usual in my diet. (A specific choice I made). Most of my carb intake comes from fruit and yogurt - so quite sugary, rather than starchy foods. I've noticed that when I do have starchy foods e.g a wholemeal roll I have a...
