Hi. That was my question really. Is my Hb average good enough or should I use metformin to lower it even more (if that’s possible). I suppose what I’m really asking is a 5.5 blood glucose healthy enough or should it be in the 4s?
Hi. Thanks for the reply. I ask about metformin because my elder brother is diabetic and he eats more carbs than I do but takes metformin and his blood control is well into the 4s. He doesn’t use insulin. J
Hi folks. I’ve got a question that I would love some advice on. I’m T2 and diet controlled. I keep reading on diet doctor about not taking metformin for various reasons.
My question is basically “Does my blood glucose need to be as low as possible (without going into hypo) or should I be happy...
Hey thanks for the reply. Yes I thought it was unusual at first. This nurse is a newbie and obviously intouch with current thinking. Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated. j
Hi all. Can anyone shed some light on the following?
Just had my cholesterol results back and I'm confused by the nurses response.
She said they were normal and no action was necessary but everywhere I look my total cholesterol number is seen as high risk. My lipid breakdown is as follows
Serum...
Hi. I am a type 2 diabetic using exercise and diet to control my blood. I Think this is purely a subjective issue. I know that when I started testing before and after every meal I managed to control my blood glucose through the food I ate. I continued testing my blood two hours after every...
Thank you all for your replies. Some interesting stuff here. I lost the bulk of my weight within the first 7 months. I came down from 20st to 14st. I should be around 13st but I'm struggling with the last bit. I'm now 13st 7lbs. Since I started fasting it's had no impact on my weight loss. This...
Hi. I am a type 2 diabetic diagnosed a year ago. I have, through diet and weight loss managed to control my blood glucose to fairly reasonable levels. I decided to start fasting using the 16:8 approach. I only check my blood after food. 3 days ago I decided to check my blood after an energetic...
That's interesting and similar to me. I don't eat any carbs at all other than those in veg. I have stopped all sugar, pasta, bread, rice, grains, oats, beans and still my blood is rising when fasting.
My exercise routine hasn't really changed. I do 100 sit-ups every morning, fast walking for half hour and three times a week light weights. My BMI is 24. I don't tend to look in the mirror. My wife says I look pale and I'm always cold.
Hmmmm. Since IF my exercise regime has slipped as I don't seem to have the energy. However, when I reduced my exercise before IF it didn't really impact.
Thanks, that was a good article. There is no mention of this on the diet doctor website in relation to IF (which I have using as my main approach to my diabetes management). J
