Eye review, blurry vision and reading glasses!

Really interesting @Antje77 ! I had thought that drops had become less intrusive over the last 40 years. I now think the reaction is age related in that in 1978 my eyes were so blurred and intolerant of light that my wife-to-be would lead me over the road from the hospital, wearing dark...

    Wrist pain

This is a small excerpt from https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/tendonitis What causes tendonitis and tenosynovitis? The cause of tendonitis and tenosynovitis is often not known. They may be caused by strain, overuse, injury, or too much exercise. Tendonitis may also...

    Wrist pain

Do you for example play any keyboard instrument? I used to get pain in both wrists from trying to play the piano too fast without being overall relaxed. What else could cause strain in both wrists and how often does this happen? I don't think I could ever have blamed diabetes for it. It would be...

T1 refused insulin repeat prescription - Twitter thread

I fully sympathise, but we could be having a worse time in some other well known countries! We need to hang on to the NHS , but as @NicoleC1971 says, the providers need to avoid wastage. There is still far too much of it. It doesn't help that if you take a prescription home and find an item is...

    Unexplained rise

This raises an interesting question. If a non diabetic, let alone a diabetic is taking medication before eating, and swills it down with diet fizz in the belief that this will not cause digestive acids, could the action of the liver dumping glucose cause the stomach to release acid and therefore...

T1 refused insulin repeat prescription - Twitter thread

Here is a letter (edited!) which I wrote 9 years ago to the Complaints Manager of our Surgery Pharmacy: 19th November 2012 Dear Ms, Thank you for taking the trouble to write to me on 16th November and for clarifying matters raised in my letter to J C. As a patient who relies on Insulin being...

    Diarrhoea for 3 months

Chronic diarrhoea can be the result of persistent high average blood glucose. This may not be an "additional" problem, but as others say, requires medical attention immediately. Here is something that happened to me 36 years ago: It was in 1985 that I realised that violent episodes of diarrhoea...

    Type 2 Blood Pressure…

Hi @simply_h It might be an idea to take a graph of readings over say 2 weeks. This would give a good starting point for the doctor and an indicator as to what, if any, medicine is needed. My blood pressure is the finest it has been since 1973! I've almost got a bus pass...

    QRISK3 algorithm

I haven't completed the algorithm calculator, but I would like to add to the comments made above. Since 1959 I have become increasingly sceptical about such predictions. After all, I was told at the age of 13 in 1971 that I might make it to 20. An actuary told my father in 1980 that I might make...

    Sick as a chip ☹️

You could scroll up to the top of the page until you see search (top right). Type in 'nutritional thingy' and this should lead you to @JoKalsbeek 's blog. Very useful info there. Good luck!

Treating low BG (hypo?) for an initial quick response

Funnily enough my wife doesn't put anything other than jam, honey etc on bread or toast because of gall stones! Marmalade on its own would certainly act faster. I found that pineapple juice worked the fastest with the added bonus that I love it! All the best from Ixworth.
