Would you take a cure if it became available? Curious?

Good points. I like your analogy of the bad relationship. That's just spot on. Unfortunately!

    How to guesstimate HbA1c

Apologies if this question has already been answered, but does anyone have an idea how to guesstimate HbA1c results? If my average BG is 6, I'm wondering what my next HbA1c might be. I'm trying really hard to get mine down from just over 8%(too high I know) and have been using the Aviva Expert...

Would you take a cure if it became available? Curious?

Are you old enough to remember the Marianne Faithful, Rolling Stones mars bar furore back in the sixties? Lol!

Oh dear do you really have to stop halfway thru? I'm really sorry but that did make me laugh! A medicinal chocolate bar is called for. First.

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Isn't that just one of the best feelings?

Well that's lovely. Congrats. I don't understand how the wonder that is diabetes had anything to do with it tho. Is your intended a doctor or nurse?

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Interesting post, Olala. Thank you. Sounds as if you are managing really well. Sometimes something happens to make us realise how important our friends are and that is a good thing. All we can do is 'keep on keeping on'. That is something else to add to the list of dislikes! Re your comment...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

My frozen shoulder was manipulated under anaesthetic several years ago while I was under for unrelated surgery. I had physiotherapy afterwards and it has been fine ever since. If I was you I'd ask about MUA.

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Haha! Most definitely! And one of those melting chocolate fountain thingies that Dawn French went bonkers over.

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

A few years ago I needed to go into hospital for a hysterectomy. Naively I was looking forward to it because I thought the nurses would look after the diabetes stuff and I'd get a mini holiday. Yay! But they made a real mess of it all and I think I was discharged early because if that. So no...

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Following on from the 'would you take a cure' thread, I started thinking what are the things I dislike most about being diabetic? Number 1 has to be the lack of spontaneity. It's just impossible to do almost anything without first considering 'what state am I in? Should I do a test first?'...

    Really struggling

Well done Kerrylouise. You'll soon start to feel lots better. I've been thinking about you. Some really good advice has been posted here. You're not alone! Well done you.

    Really struggling

Kerrylouise - how are you? Please get back in touch. I've been thinking about you and I'm sure we're all worried. Did you make the call? You really do need to get professional help.

    Really struggling

Hello Kerrylouise I've just read everyone's comments here and agree with what they've all said. Please take the first step and ring the diabetes team at your hospital. Do you still have the number? If you don't, ring through the hospital switchboard and say you need emergency diabetes help. They...

Would you take a cure if it became available? Curious?

Oh yes. Without a moment's hesitation. You're right tho, it would take a lot of getting used to, but in a good way. I've been type 1 for 35 years. It's been a big part of my life for a long time but I would be soooooooooo pleased to have the freedom a cure would give. Just imagine eating what...

    Unsupportive partner?

I agree. It's not really fair to expect a partner to take as much responsibility as you have to yourself to manage your condition. My husband listens to the occasional rant and is on hand with glucose, if I need it, but I rarely need help. So he's supportive, but I actually wouldn't expect or...

JDRF lodging a complaint with the BBC.

Yes you're probably right. But even so it does give a misleading impression. I don't know why I watched the whole thing anyway. Thought it was dire!

JDRF lodging a complaint with the BBC.

I watched this episode yesterday in utter disbelief. The character, Amy, was never seen carrying out a BG test and did not carry any fast acting glucose with her. Her attitude and the BBC's depiction of Type 1 was, in my opinion, misleading and irresponsible. She seemed to treat a hypo and...

Has anyone been as stupid as me?

Goodness me, how dreadful. But you've come through it and survived. I hope stronger for it. You were fortunate not to have any lasting side effects. I admire your positive attitude. Do you know what caused the hypo?
