    Type 2 C-peptide reading?

Hi Daisybell, My BMI was about 25.7 pre diabetes. It’s now about 24.5. I am tall and reasonably fit and always have been. I was rather shocked when diagnosed and didn’t fit the type 2 body type. Recently two other family members have been diagnosed with type two and type one, I’m assuming it’s...

Hi In Response, Thanks for the reference article. The more info to hand I have the more in control I feel. Alan.

    Type 2 C-peptide reading?

I recently had a C-peptide test carried out. It came back as 476 pmol/l and stated normal, no action needed. I am on Gliclazide 120mg (m.r.) Pioglitazone 30mg, Metformin 2000mg and Atorvastatin 20mg daily. I fasted for the test and did not take my evening or morning medication prior to the test...

Type 2 My T2 worsens every winter any ideas why?

Hi Little Grey Cat, it’s interesting that the winter challenges our body more, less light, less activity, more cold, more carb (intake) etc. Our body definately has to work harder. If a person’s pancreas is not as strong as it could/should be I can see why diabetes may become more of an issue...

Type 2 My T2 worsens every winter any ideas why?

Hi Bulk Biker, I’m speaking to my GP tomorrow and will collate notes to back up fellings of what is going on given my meds, diet etc. I have no knowledge of medicine which makes things difficult, but very much appreciate your input. Alan.

Type 2 My T2 worsens every winter any ideas why?

Hi DCUKMod, my diabetes becomes increasingly worse and does not improve. It is slipping further each year. More medication, less energy etc. Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. Alan.

Type 2 My T2 worsens every winter any ideas why?

Hi Bulk Biker, I’d be lying if I said I knew my exact carb intake, but no bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, porridge, fruit etc. I also try and eat veg and food prepared by me rather than factory made things. My diet is certainly lower in carbs than it ever has been. I had a C-peptide test done well...

Type 2 My T2 worsens every winter any ideas why?

Hi Ellie, I don’t know whether or not I’m lada. I’m being treated as a T2. Your post to me is interesting and I have now booked to speak to my GP. I will raise the points in your post. Thanks for your input. Alan.

Type 2 My T2 worsens every winter any ideas why?

Around late October my BG numbers begin to steadily rise. I notice the desire in September/October to want to eat carb laden food. I am careful what I eat in relation to carbs, but no matter what, my BG still rises and I’m on a low carb diet. I am on Metformin 2000mgs, Gliclazide 120mgs (m.r.)...

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Jim, Thanks for your reply. When you say ‘eating the exact opposite of everything I’d ever been told’ do you mean eating low carb? Alan.

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Looper cat, Thanks for your reply. The spikes range from 15 to 18 mmol/l and take about 3 to 4 hours to come down. Unfortunately the rise and fall make me feel lousy. Alan.

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Ellie, Thank you for your reply. I have just looked up ‘Mody’ and yes it does seem very complicated. At the moment my GP and DN are trying oral medication to see what is most effective. It really is trial and error. The problem with this approach is that time is ticking by and I’m not...

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Marie, Thank you for your reply. I believe my pancreas is, as I said before, becoming less capable of dealing with carbs. It seems to be happening relatively quick. I agree testing for antibodies is a good idea. It is something I will put to the diabetic nurse, when I see her this Tuesday...

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi xfieldok, I am on a low carb diet. I did post it the other day under ‘Erratic, but rising blood glucose levels’ heading. You gave some helpful suggestions to me then, thanks. Alan.

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Bulk biker, I am eating a low carb diet of vegetables and meat/protein. I noticed that even eggs were beginning to push my readings up, which I hadn’t experienced before. Given that my medication has been raised significantly, it’s having less effect. Alan.

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Marie, I had a c-peptide test done and it came back low at 396, but that was deemed acceptable/normal by my GP. I then had my Gliclazide raised three fold (which made virtually or no difference to my daily BG readings) and my next c-peptide reading was 1240. So I’m assuming my pancreas can...

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Kaylz91, My carb intake is low and this is what's concerning me. Also my food choices are falling away pretty quick, as in things I could eat I no longer can because the way in which they spike my BG levels. Alan.

    Type 2 Food prison.

Hi Wayward Blood, Thanks for your suggestions/input, I will bear them in mind. Our food tastes aren't so different and I'm impressed that you are being so proactive with a low-carb approach to your diet. I thought that as a type 1 your food choices could be less restricted because you could...
