Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

Take your point @bulkbiker but lets remember the good bits as well as the not so perfect elements of NHS care

Why Lchf And Not Just Lc?

Very helpful thank you @There is no Spoon. I think the 'high fat' does spook some people especially if they have associated cholesterol issues so 'healthy' fat woks for me :) I recall when new to diagnosis reading posts on here about Bullet Proof coffee and when I looked up the recipe I felt...

Why Lchf And Not Just Lc?

Thanks @Mbaker, I like the 'Healthy' fat branding much better than 'High' fat :)

Why Lchf And Not Just Lc?

Thanks @Brunneria, just thinking the seeking 'High Fat' message isn't quite correct, it's more don't unduly worry about the fat content

Why Lchf And Not Just Lc?

Hi, LCHF is promoted on this forum and with excellent results but I was just wondering why does the fat content have to be high? As a T2 I struggle to tolerate sugar and carbs so this is what needs to be addressed, not sure why I need to seek to increase fats over and above those naturally...

Type 2 Carbs And The Doctor/dn

I'm not a fan of the GP / DNS bashing element of this forum but then everyone I guess is basing it on their own experiences. My experience of both is good (my DNS still wants me to eat porridge which I ignore but some T2's are ok with it so I'll let her have that one) The nutrition guidance...

Thank You Forum Hba1c Reduced In 4 Months

Mine's a similar story, shock T2 diagnosis - forum - low carb - lose weight - better numbers, sounds simple but as we all know it is not! ....and on-going maintenance is now the focus. Good that you are Med free :) my DNS said that we'd talk about coming off Metformin in the new year.

    Alcohol/sickness/metformin Etc...

Interesting thread, I'm on Metformin 2 x 500mg per day since March this year and have drunk alcohol on a social basis as per pre diagnosis and haven't noticed any issues. Does anyone know if lactic acidosis is something that someone would suffer early on in their treatment with Metformin if...

Why Eat Carbs As A Type 2 Diabetic?

Like @rhubarb73 I'm new to the forum and new to diagnosis, this is perhaps the most disappointing thread I've come across

Do You Class Yourself As A) Reversed B) In Remission C) Controlled D) Other And Why

Hi @Debandez, I personally prefer 'c) Controlled' with my latest HbA1c being 40. Remission also makes sense as a term because it suggests a current state rather than cured.

    Low Carb Bread

Thanks @Ian_Laye never thought to look for sugar free ketchup, assumed I would do without or just occasionally in those 'what the hell' moments

    Low Carb Bread

The non-seeded Hovis one is the most bread like low carb option I've tried but it had pretty much the same effect as standard bread on my blood sugar. Shame because it really was a great bacon sandwich! maybe the ketchup I added wasn't a good idea!?... I plan to try it again sometime as if...

    Low Carb Bread

I'd say a win too considering you had two slices. not tried this one myself as I tend to have the Hi-Lo bread that Sainsbury's stock which is 5g of carb per slice. I have one slice toasted out of the freezer with butter for breakfast when I've had enough of egg & bacon etc. or running short of...
