    Feet and hand tingling

Fibromyalgia, polymalgia, and asthma in my list too along with a host of others! I couldn't do without this forum, have lost five stone now since diagnosis three years ago but still got a little way to go with BG levels. I too stagger my carbs I don't think I could do intermittent fasting unless...

    Feet and hand tingling

Hi I have it too as well as the tingling I get stabbing pains. Doesn't seem to make a difference with my steadily reducing BGs. I might just be unlucky as I have arthritis and chronic pain along with a whole shopping list of things. However my GP put me on duloxotine and that helps. However as I...

Hbac1 40 - doctor said I'm ok and that was it

Pre freezing bread and keeping in the freezer also stops me from indulging in a sandwich when looking for a quick snack. Also having two slices of toast from frozen for breakfast and giving crusts to the dog helps!

    Visit to My GP

I think I'm very lucky in my GP as he told me about LCHF when I was diagnosed. The Practice nurses at my last review knew nothing and when my other half was diagnosed as pre diabetic the nurse told him high carb was the way to go, but he hasn't as he's seen the results change with me so he LCHF...

    Resistant starch

Hooray someone outside of my family likes raw potato! Never met anyone else that does. We were always given raw potato as a treat for peeling them. Welcome you'll get a lot of help from here, I do, I learn something every time I look.

    Work Sandwich Box

Well I've been testing all day and I've gone from 7.9 down to 7.2 after 3 hours, back to 7.9 before lunch, and am now 12.8 before tea! I haven't got back onto LCHF today but after these results I WILL tomorrow, no more messing. Interesting the dizzied I am with the Ménière's is when I get the...

    Work Sandwich Box

Just goes to show you have to keep testing to find what you can and can't eat. I've fallen off the wagon a bit as I've now added Ménière's to my list of defects and being so dizzy and nauseous all the time has meant I'm either not eating or eating lots of carbs. However as there appears to be no...

Still got the price tag on

Hi James When I got my meter it had a letter you could fill in and take to your GP for free strips and lancets. They are on my repeat and I just order when I need also my sharps box is on repeat. I'm in Norfolk but I know other T2's have problems. There's also a note on the website here that...

HBa1c result came back - totally deflated

Patrick you've done really well in six weeks to drop your HbA1c in six weeks it took me six months for a similar drop and a stone in weight. Amongst several other conditions I also have fibromyalgia and frequently can't manage the cooking or housework. I now also have Ménière's which is causing...

Win some lose some...home made chocolates

And now I want some but am in bed and no double cream in the fridge, but it's now on the shopping list. Is less tempting to take them out of the moulds and then bag them into 4 or 8 in a bag and put them back in the freezer? I do find I miss something sweet after dinner, this might be the answer.

    Unexpected sugar in foods

We have a soup maker, throw everything in switch on and 21 mins you have a piping hot smooth soup which lasts three or four days in the fridge. Our favourite is broccoli and or cauliflower, small onion, water then add grated cheese when done , rarely lasts more then a day as its so tasty! Very...

How can I get my partner to help ?

I agree with all the above. You have to be strong for you and can't easily change other people. Been diabetic three years now, came from a very diabetic maternal family, mum was one of thirteen children and all were diabetic for some reason her brothers were type 1 and she and her sisters all...

    Message from NHS

LCHF is the way to go. Have lost 3 stone 2 years since diagnosis, GP recommended LCHF immediately, however my partner recently told pre diabetic (with BMI of 21!) and saw practice nurse and given the same healthy heart diet sheet. I've encouraged him onto LCHF and checking his blood sugar each...

Diabetic Or Not, That Is The Question?!!!

Just to add re self testing, I purchased my accu check when diagnosed 2 years ago and it came with a slip to give to GP for testing strips, lancets and sharps box. Mr GP added them to my very long list of prescriptions. I've had no trouble getting the items. My GP also told me LCHF was the way...

    Weight Loss Question

I'm now two years from diagnosis and although I lost a few pounds originally my weight was fairly static until February this year when I suddenly lost 2 stones and now 3 stones. I've changed nothing, no idea why but I'm not complaining and as my GP isn't worried neither am I! I'm unable to...

New Here And In Desperate Need Of Help

Life with diabetes is tough on both the person and family members. You are doing a great job, never under estimate your contribution. Have you registered at your GP surgery as a carer? My partner is registered as my carer and he can always get a same day appointment when he needs one without...
