OK - what can I eat?

Thanks Sue. Don't drink anyway, so that's ok. Don't like liver much, and not eaten kidneys since I was at school. Allergic to sea food. Don't eat much asparagus because it's expensive. But would have eaten all the others. Mmmmm. Just thought. The dreaded locum told me it was protein that...

OK - what can I eat?

I know I have to watch what I eat because of the diabetes, especially carbs. Today I've been told to watch amount of protein because I've got gout (in my wrist!). Doesn't seem to leave much :( Any suggestions before I fade away (in my dreams  ) Lynne

Lurker with a story and an important question

After my run-in with doc today I've been on internet and there are some research papers about talking about early intervention with metformin and earlier prescribing of insulin. Apparently theory is that early aggresive treatment with meds reduces long-term problems. But I agree that I'd...

    Very confused

Thanks everyone. Yes, I have signed the petition. One thing that worries me was that this guy was so plausible. And he teaches other medics. Would have been easy to take him at his word, but I googled to see what the papers said about early treatment with metformin, and they all seem to...

    Hello everybody

Hi Philipo I've just been diagnosed with Type 2 and GP has refused testing gear. I've followed advice of others on here and rung manufacturer - sending one out free. Then I'll buy supplies off internet. Not fair, but better to do that than not be in control of my own body. Best wishes Lynne

    Very confused

Thanks Sue. Found some research papers on internet - they seem to relate more to people with higher levels of blood glucose to start with. And really don't fancy taking tablets unless I have to. So, it looks like I join so many of you on here, get my own kit and buy supplies off internet...

    Very confused

Saw GP this morning. After telling me I have gout in my wrist and a cracked rib (long story!) I asked if they would give me a testing kit (after the nurse said it wasn't necessary until later stages). He said it is cheaper to provide medication than the testing equipment. When I said I'd buy...

    Belated introduction

Hi, everyone. Posted the other night, but didn't intoduce myself properly - sorry for being rude. I'm Lynne, just diagnosed Type 2. If you read my original post you'll have seen that I was originally diagnosed a couple of years ago, given testing equipment and, for that year, had tested...

    groundhog day

A few years ago I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. My weight loss was ascribed to the diabetes, not all my hard work with Weight Watchers. I tested my BS regularly, and everyone was surprised at how good all my test results were. The day of my annual review, I was told that I was possibly...
