Metformin + Gliclazide + Exercise Seems to be working

Re: Metformin + Gliclazide + Excercise Seems to be working Yes, I will do, because I'm on Glic, I finally got prescribed a meter and test strips as they need to give you them if on Glic as it carries with it the Hypo risk. Been told Hypos can be experienced if the number hits 4 and below. I now...

Metformin + Gliclazide + Exercise Seems to be working

Hi Folks, I've had high blood sugars for a while now, initially on Metformin, which did nothing to reduce sugars, but has allowed me to lose weight (from 18.7 stone to just under 16 stone now). Cutting carbs did not help that much either. So Doctor put me on Gliclazide 80mg once a...

    Denial of the condition.

Yes, I'd had a recommendation to try the Lizzies as even on the packet it does state clearly, designed for slow release. The proportions of the ingredients looked ok. I guess it boils down to different foods react differently for people depending on how severe your diabetes is, mine seems to...

    Metformin newbie

I have been on Metformin for a while now, and never had stomach upsets, but I do have a lot of dizzeness...and sore arms and legs...so not sure if that's side effects of the drug....which seems to make no noticable difference anyway....making me think I should just stop taking it !

    Denial of the condition.

Thanks Cara, I will order the book on Amazon now. I was 18.5 stone, but the metformin alone with no diet change, has allowed me to drop to 15 stone 10lbs, which I've been for some months now. I think I could easily drop another stone to a stone and a half.... Time I took the condition...

I've just taken another blood sugar test. Fasting level this morning was 12.1, I've have a 60g bowl of Lizzies Granola with full fat milk, 1 x 500g Metformin, and at work a Grande Americano with millk....and now my blood sugar is 14.6 ! Do I need to make an appointment with a doctor ?

    Denial of the condition.

I have ignored my condition since diagnosis some 18-24 months ago. And thinking back, I've probably had Type 2 for some years prior to diagnosis. What has scared me recently is I've noticed I've been getting very very tired at night even after a good nights sleep. I did think it was just due to...

    Newly Diagnosed....

Hi Anna, sure...if you read the British Medical Association press book on Diabetes, it states the management of Diabetes (Type 2) is best done via balanced diet that can include bread, potatoes, pasta ect, and even fruit. A friends Mum who has had Type 1 for over 50 years told me to disregard...

    Supplements....

Hi Folks, I'm newly diagnosed with Type 2, and so far am frustrated that UK Medical Practitioners say ok to Carbs....and I'm still awaiting my diet chat with my local pratice, which I'm sure will advocate eating carbs... I know this is not the place to debate the validity of low carb...

    Diet and BS....

Hi Folks, I'm 35 and newly diagnosed with Type 2. A good friend of mine suggested I speak to his Mum as she's been Type 1 for over 50 years now....and she has trained as a nutitionist and has educated herself in general all things Diabetes related. She suggested that I read and adopt Richard K...
