High blood glucose levels since change in ratios

If you feel like it is a difficult task, have a look at the success stories section of this forum. Keeps me up through the bad days hahaha. I'm sure you'll be delighted to discover many stories of people who went from 80-90 HbA1c to 50 or even lower in 3 to 6 months! A bit of motivation can go a...

High blood glucose levels since change in ratios

BS of 7-14 is super high. If I've above 9 I really don't like it. Over 10 is clearly a hyper to me. I think eventually the best way to manage your diabetes is to own it. I suggest you try to take one of those DAFNE course or so, if you haven't done it already. Otherwise there is tons of...

    Times like now

Yep. Sucks right. Ultimately, things like crisps are super unhealthy, and not just for diabetic. Our diet is virtually the one all should have. Less carbs and more vegetables. You have to watch it out because you have no margin on the short term, but they don't have a lot more on the long run...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning, 6.8. Still within my range Take care today guys :)

    Type1 newly diagnosed and struggling

Yes, you need fast acting insulin on top of your basal. Basically your basal ensures your BG doesn't increase if you eat nothing. So if you start your day at say 5.8 in the morning and you had some basal (and the dose of basal is correct!!), you will be close to 5.8 in 6h time, granted you don't...

    Type1 newly diagnosed and struggling

I guess it depends on people though, since this works for many and they are happy with it. But I don't follow Dr Bernstein's diet myself so I agree. I should have specified that those are the best things to eat but there is definitely room for a bit more carby food, and that's fine. I myself eat...

    Burgers burgers burgers

Technically, in traditional ways, a burger is minced meat mixed with soft bread, onions and eggs. I sincerely doubt it is still the case for every burger, especially in fast foods or pubs, or anything else, but there might be some additional elements into it? Burger is in no case actual 100%...

    Frequency of hypos

Yes my hypos are very similar, not very big and slow to come, quick to leave, which is good. It does feel like juggling a bit hahaha. Good luck for your hypos as well, it sounds like you've got the hang of it.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Yes but 5.2 is after my bolus is done acting. I had chicken (150g), 35g bread, 3 tomatoes and 100g feta. 25g carbs and 45g proteins.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all! Again low, 3.4 from 5.2 :) Not sure how much drop is normal overnight? This is such a slow drop but still.

    bumps in legs

Quite a tricky question, yes. I actually used to do all my basal in the thighs and bolus in the abdomen, and now completely changed. The best place to do the basal IMO is the bum, as suggested by other members. You can split it into 4 parts: let versus right and top versus down. I rotate every...

Does cheddar make your BS go up?

Very good point actually, I have not. I'd be surprised if a brand actually lied on their number. It was always from the same pouch of cheddar (300g pouch so it took me a while to take that bad boy down). I have done the test I mentioned earlier, and ate a full broccoli with my 60g of cheddar...

Does cheddar make your BS go up?

Tried to eat yogurt and not protein-count. I ended at 10.4 :( 3 units correction it is. I guess cheddar is just my magic thing... I have 60g of cheddar left in the fridge, once I get back to a normal BS, I will try to eat broccoli and that cheddar with no carbs whatsoever, to see what happens...

Does cheddar make your BS go up?

Well, I used to not count for proteins at all but I started doing so with great results. I always ate a massive load of cheese in France (as I'd expect from all fellow countrymen) and I was all fine. This includes notably emmental, roquefort, St Marcelin, feta, St Félicien, camembert and so on...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.0 down from 7.0 5h before! I reduced one unit of basal, seemed right. I will see if it keeps up like that :)

Does cheddar make your BS go up?

Hi, It seems every time I eat a bit of cheddar my BS goes unexpectedly high. I do count for proteins in my bolus, which works great for everything, but it seems even if I do that for cheddar, this does not suffice. I don't eat a lot of cheese in UK, but the other one I usually eat in LARGE...
