Insulin pumps. Still researching but..don't get it

Hi I've got a consultant appointment soon to discuss an insulin pump. I've tried not to get my hopes up. Just looking at some of the information here, I'm a bit confused. Have to admit it's early days, I've not read too much yet. But, is it right that pumps use a rapid acting insulin only? How...

    New to Tresiba

Hi @ChrisM28 those glucose results are great. I switched to tresiba in January and only issue I had was mild hypos each morning for a few days as I injected each evening. So I switched to morning doses. No idea why that helps, but it seems that a morning dose helps other diabetics on this forum...

    Should I take metformin?

Hi @Daibell thanks for your reply. I have recently become a bit concerned about the dextrose. Not having loads but I know I shouldn't really need them. I'm going to tweak my basal a bit more, but I do carb count and I think I need a more specific bolus dose, rather than units of 1, which I think...

    Should I take metformin?

I'm type 1 and I've had great success on LCHF and my control is great now. I take 30u of tresiba and no more than 15u of novorapid daily. I'm not losing weight. I lose maybe a pound then put it back on, which has been going on for months now. I'm not exercising much and enjoy a bit of red wine...

    Is this reaction normal? :(

Is there any way Tresiba may work for you on a lower dose, or even splitting it to see if that helps? I had hypos each night too, but for some reason having the injection in the morning instead of the evening really solved it for me.

    Caffeine and Type 1

That's really interesting. I drink loads of coffee and never had any issues with my glucose levels as a result.

    Correction or realignment

I like manipulat yeah I like manipulation. could only think of adjustment. It's amazing that I actually wake up and smile at my libre most days now :angelic: thanks to LCHF. Still keeps me on my toes though...

    Correction or realignment

OK, I could probably have made it clearer (BTW glucose fine today). I just felt that correction sounded like I'd done something wrong, but realignment was just putting my level where it should be :) was trying to think of a better way of phrasing it.

    Correction or realignment

Thought about a correction dose I took earlier and felt glucose realignment sounded better than correction? Too much time on my hands this morning. ;)

    Problems with Accu-chek mobile

Hi @chocoholicnomore that's a shame. That's what happens at times. I've used the mobile for at least 15 years now, had to buy a new meter three times. Having used other meters and every now and again had issues with every one, I decided to stick to the mobile. As you say, no separate strips is...

    Retinopathy

Do you mind if I ask how long it was before the retinopathy was reversed? Brilliant BTW

    Retinopathy

really hopeful that I can at least keep my background retinopathy stable. I would be so happy if I could reverse it with near normal glucose levels.

    Job Interviews

Hi I mentioned at an interview I had last week (got the job), for the first time ever, that I had been active on a diabetes forum because I've been type 1 for 25 years and reading a lot about diabetes recently. It was for a job where I am currently temping and do have lots of experience. Never...
