    Dealing with illness

That’s interesting as I did wonder if that has caused my issues and I presume you think nothing can be done to deal with that? Maybe the endo will have a different view to the Gastro? I have done the 72 fasting test nearly 2 years ago now, do you think in the light of this it would be worth...

    Dealing with illness

No he’s a gastroenterologist, it was the discomfort I was experiencing that prompted the initial ultrasound, so they stumbled on this really. I am hoping he will communicate with the endocrinologist before my next appointment. Still waiting to hear about the 24 hr glucose monitoring they promised!

    Dealing with illness

So the Consultant was surprised to see from the CT that I have chronic pancreatitis. He wants a closer look at the two cysts with MRI but doesn’t think they are nasty and doesn’t think either issues are affecting my blood sugars. Going to try controlling the pain with paracetamol and wait to...

    Dealing with illness

Has anyone any suggestions as to how to cope with illness please? I think I have a stomach upset or maybe I ate too many carbs over Christmas? In the past I would have just kept to fluids for a day or two but obviously I can’t do this now. What would be best to eat please? I am also dairy...

    Hypoglykemie and insulin resistance

I do sympathise as I can’t seem to control my levels with food either yet. I changed something yesterday, just slightly and noticed a small difference! Perhaps you could add in more fat or protein at lunchtime and see if that helps, keep experimenting you may find out what is better for you...

    Medication, chocolate and testing

A brief update, eggs worked well for my last prefast meal, it took a while to get balanced again afterwards but wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’ve had some results from the scan one of which was there’s a cyst on my Pancreas as well as polyps on my gall bladder which is also inflamed! I’m still...

    Medication, chocolate and testing

I now have a date for a scan to my abdomen as I have had a pain for a few weeks now, another issue entirely hopefully? My problem is I need to fast for 6 Hours beforehand and the appointment is at 9am. I am not supposed to have fats for my last intake as that may affect the results. I asked...

    Medication, chocolate and testing

I found it made me go low in the day more often and made things far worse at night, that was the issue for me. I am satisfied with the monitoring plan and maybe then trying another tablet, he said maybe Metformin, but I think I am very sensitive to medication so will wait to see what the...

    Medication, chocolate and testing

I am already low carbing, i did ask if I should cut them completely which he felt wasn’t necessary. I have very small amounts of starchy veg if any and stick to above ground veg. I think how much energy I use may be a factor too as after a busy day I will often have a worse night. I read that...

    Any help would be appreciated

Hi sorry to hear how you are struggling. I can really relate as I am having the same issues, although thankfully I don’t pass out. I have found an improvement with sticking to a LCHF diet and eating at least 6 small meals a day every 2/3 hours. However even after a fasting test for 72 hours...

    Medication, chocolate and testing

@ Brunnaria, sorry I changed my mind about the chocolate question! Thanks both for your replies. I’m glad you said that about the tablets it’s puzzling me as to how they can help since I eat low carb meals anyway, I’ve had a difficult couple of weeks, but when I test my readings are not that...

    Improving sleep

I’m very confused by my readings. Even before I started these tablets my fasting glucose first thing was above 6 consistently? I never seem to be below 6 now and am often around 7/8 at bed time. Any thoughts please? Still waking every 2 hours even taking 3 Acarbose a day! Another couple of...
